A Retreat with Nature

The morning sun rays bounced off the tinted windows of the van driving down the highway, the wheels, effortlessly gliding on the carpeted road. A relaxing music flowed through the van, each passenger lost in a world of their own.

In the front, SS sat with CC who was driving. She had rolled down her window, the breeze rattling her hair as her hands slowly wound around CC. He smiled, the instant touch sending him into spirals as he almost lost control of the vehicle.

KS and Veyom sat in the middle, their hands clasped together as KS rested her head on his shoulder. Veyom stared out the window, the sunlight streaming in his face, the breeze ruffling his hair.

HM and Anubhav stole the back seats, completely engrossed with each other. They both had their windows down, the rough sound of the wind drowning their voices. They sat in the middle, Anubhav's hand wrapped around her shoulder as his fingers crawled all over her, tickling and prickling a heat over her body.

No one spoke, each couple lost in their own worlds as the van continued its descent. The soft flow of music went unheard as the couples had their own rhythms, vibrating in the net ensconced around them.

Suddenly, SS switched off the radio and looked behind, almost laughing as her eyes caught the nests of honey bees entangled in the seats. She laughed, a little too loudly, tears spilling out of her eyes. The sound gave an alarm as the couples instinctively left each other, their faces reddening in embarrassment.

"Santu..." KS growled, her voice a warning.

SS silenced herself immediately covering her mouth with her hand. "Sorry madam..." she said. "Madam, it's too boring to sit inside the van. Let's play a game?" she asked, her eyes lighting up with enthusiasm as she clapped her hands together.

KS eyed Veyom through the corner of her eyes, her mind instantly cursing SS for her disturbance. She shrugged, nodding at SS casually, her eyes still caught in Veyom's face. Haseena too nodded, her head twitching up and down as Anubhav's fingers trailed the peeks of her back behind the seat.

"What should we play Santu....?" CC asked running a hand through his hair.

"Hmm...what if we recreate Hindi songs?" she asked, curling her mouth into a pout. "One person will begin the words mimicking a Hindi song and the partner will complete it."

They agreed rather reluctantly, half cross at being disturbed. SS took the start, glancing at CC's eyes as she pursed her lips in deep contemplation. CC placed a hand on his racing heart, his gaze fleeting between the road and his love.

"Aarey Santu....think quick else we'll all end up in the hospital..." KS shouted as the others laughed.

SS cued the track of "Jab we met" as she lowered her eyes, her soft hum filling the quiet air of the van.

"The greying veil of life was painted with colors,

On the beautiful evening that you chose to make me,

A part of you forever...."

She stopped, slowly lifting her head glancing at CC who pressed down hard on the brakes unable to handle her gaze. He gulped, looking back at the road, his hand unconsciously finding hers as he continued in the same tone.

"My world was silenced when you entered,

Stealing my breath and my life,

Meri Jaan......"

Time stretched, the background music hanging on as the couple glanced deeper, their holds tightening. A loud round of applause broke their contacts as they hurriedly looked away, hiding the reddened hues.
