I sighed as I walked down the empty streets. It was about seven, and I was headed to a small café. one of the only ones I know stay open past midnight, and it was a nice little place.
I'd had been a long day of turf wars, and I'll be honest. we lost a lot of them, and i needed to clear my head. It's been a while since i have been to a café. All of us have been so focused on our practice that we haven't had a good battle..
"Whats gotten you down? It's not normal on your features..." Headphones sighed. Looking up from where she laid her head down.
"It's nothing... Just kinda down..." the person hummed, setting a small pot of tea down as she got her pen and paper out.
"It's alright... everyone has their days they're sad...." I nodded, smiling as she sat up.
"Thanks, Nightmare...uh anyways... do you have a strawberry cream cake in stock? I know that's normally the first to go in this weather..." Nightmare smiled, nodding as she wrote down the order.
"My little brother was in here earlier today, also wording his worries with me... so I figured you'd be here not long after..." she said as she walked to the back.
I let out a small huff as she looked around the cafe. Seeing some regular people in the café. Those people Like X-Blood, Army, Team Pink, and Emperor. After a year of self training, Nightmare offered him a job at her café. Was surprising how well he was going.
"Headphones? What are you doing here? I don't see you here often.." I jumped, looking up at the new voice. Skull stood there, his E-Liter over his shoulder as he sat down.
"A-ah!! Uh.. I could kinda say the same for you! But I know why you are here...hehehe.." He nodded.
"Oh... you... don't mind if I sit here... right?"
"Of course not!! Im happy you did decide to sit here!" I smiled, blushing a deep shade of blue. He nodded, looking over the menu.
"Here's your cake, Headphones... hello, Skull... would you like the usual?" Skull hummed, looking closely to the menu before he looked at Nightmare.
"Acutally... I'm thinking maybe your berry specials? I'm kinda in a fruit and berry mood..." He said. Nightmare nodded, turning as she left.
"So... what have you been up to?"
"Ah, you know... practice... turf war... losing..." I said, sighing. I took my fork out as I took a small bite of my cake, looking at Skull as he just stared longingly at me.
"Ummm...how about you? You've been ok?"
"Huh? Oh! Uh... yeah, I've been good. I've been playing private turf with Half-Rimz, Blue sailor, N-Pacer, Nightmare, and Shady. At times, Nightmare sits out, but she gives pointers." I nodded as Skull got him mountain of sweets. I like sweets, but seeing all that made me kinda sick.
"Are you still free later?" Nightmare asked as Skull shook his head.
"Think I'm a little tired from last time.. " she nodded as she walked off.
I watched Skull as he had already finished half his food as a thought came up.
"Are.... you and Nightmare are thing?" I asked, scared of his answer.
"Hmm?? No, no... we're just close friends... she's already married anyway... I'm not a home wreaker, hehehe..." I sighed slightly in relief at that.
After awhile of talking and sharing some treats and all, everyone started to head home for the night.
Unlucky that it was raining.
"Man.. I didn't see anything on the forecast that it was going to rain.." Skull said, looking at his phone.
"Same...mmm.. guess it changed?" I said as he nodded. Nightmare soon walked out, locking up her café as she looked at us.
"Did you both forget an umbrella??" She asked. I nodded, shyly ducking my head as she chuckled, handing Skull her umbrella.
"Just return it tomorrow after practice.." she walked out into the rain, turning at me and winking before she disappeared into the misty streets.
I blushed hard at her, before being pulled closer to someone. I looked up at Skull as he held the umbrella up.
"Come on, we need to get you home before you catch a cold.." he said, leaning down as he kissed me gently.
"My little pop rock.."
I stood there for a moment before I laughed, leaning into him more.
"Alright, sweetheart..."
