Third person pov

Hyunjin and Minho sat in Hyunjin’s car, having just wrapped up their mission for the night. Minho glanced at his phone.

“It’s already 11:00 p.m.”

“Hurry, I want to wish him at midnight,” Minho said, eyeing Hyunjin, who was driving.

“And stop by the jewelry shop—I told them to make the purrfect piece for my baby,” Minho cooed.

“Ew, Minho. Aren’t you being a little too desperate for him?” Hyunjin cringed at the elder’s words.

“Says the one who’s desperate for my brother, huh?” Minho scoffed.

It was the 13th of September. Tomorrow was Jisung’s birthday—and also the anniversary of Mrs. Han’s death.

Minho knew Jisung didn’t like his birthday, still believing he was the reason for his mother’s passing.

But this year, Minho wanted to change that. He wanted Jisung to understand that he didn’t have to carry the guilt. He wanted him to forget the sadness tied to the day.

Soon, the car parked in front of the jewelry shop Minho had mentioned.

Both of them got out and walked inside. Thankfully, the shop closed at 11:30 p.m.

Minho rushed to pick up the necklace he had ordered, while Hyunjin quietly chose a ring for Felix.

Later, Hyunjin dropped Minho off at his apartment.

“By the way, Felix is at my place,” Hyunjin said casually.

“Don’t you dare play dirty with my brother. He’s still a minor,” Minho warned with a glare.

“You, man—I don’t lust after him. I love him. So please shut your shitty mouth and go treat your mate,” Hyunjin retorted before driving off.

Minho glanced at his phone. It was 11:50 p.m.

He rushed into his apartment, frantically searching for Jisung.

He entered his room and found Jisung sitting on the bed, wearing an old skirt and top.

Minho mentally cursed.

It was their mother’s clothes.

“Jisungie, why are you still awake?” Minho asked softly.

“Can’t sleep,” Jisung murmured quietly.

Minho didn’t say anything. Instead, he suddenly lifted the omega in a koala-style hug. Jisung instinctively wrapped his arms and legs around the alpha.

“Is my baby still feeling guilty about things he didn’t do?” Minho asked, waiting for a response. But silence followed.

He sighed and gently placed the omega on the study table, cupping Jisung’s face.

“Jisung, your mother sacrificed herself because she wanted you to be happy. But you’re not fulfilling her wish. Do you think your mother would want to see you cry on your own birthday?” Minho cooed gently.

“Don’t be sad about the past… You have your present and future right in front of you. Why not be happy for that?” he whispered, pressing kisses to the younger’s cheeks and temple.

Minho smiled and pulled the necklace from his pocket—a delicate piece with their initials wrapped together in a heart-shaped design. He gently placed it around Jisung’s neck.

“Happy birthday, Jisung,” Minho whispered.

Jisung smiled and leaned in for a kiss, which the elder accepted without hesitation.

For the first time in years, Jisung felt light. The weight in his heart had lifted. He didn’t feel guilty anymore—just happy, because Minho was right there by his side.

They broke the kiss slowly.

“So… you got the evidence?” Jisung asked, looking up at him.

“Yes. Changbin has it,” Minho replied, running his fingers gently through the younger’s hair.

Jisung smirked. “So, you wore some pretty clothes today, huh?”

Minho mentally cursed. He had completely forgotten about the photo Hyunjin had sent to Jisung.

“Ah… yeah,” Minho said, scratching the back of his head awkwardly.

Jisung didn’t say anything. He got down from the table carefully and walked over to his closet. Pulling out a short jean skirt and a yellow top, he turned and handed them to Minho.

“Wear this for me,” Jisung said with a mischievous smile.

“W-what?”
