Door's, ajar

My body feels like lead as I lift myself out of the now cool bath.

Foam sticks to my skin as I step onto the cold tiles, slowly popping as I dry myself.

"Ugh... Fuck, I'm so tired." I murmur to myself, draping the towel over my shoulders and wiping my eyes with my hands. Not only was I physically tired, but that wine I drank was making me feel all floaty.

I couldn't be bothered to do any fancy skincare stuff tonight, simply slathering my face with moisturizer. Once I'm done, I pick up my, now empty, wine glass, and trod over to the bathroom door.

The bathroom door creaks as I open it... Revealing a very disgruntled Grim, sitting outside the bathroom.

"Well, hello sir." I mumble, slowly walking around him and towards my bedroom.

Grim meowed softly as he followed me down the hallway. He was such a clingy cat, in such a small, destructive package.

My bedroom door is nudged open from the inside, by Miya. The German Shepherd could only sleep on my bed, when I was also in bed for some reason.

She huffed softly as I shuffled into the room, adjusting my towel to make sure it didn't fall.

"I'm sorry, is it past your bedtime?" I ask with a tired chuckle, gently scratching around her ears. Her tail slowly wagged behind her, as Grim jumped onto the bed. I place the wine glass onto the dresser.

I throw on a random shirt for pajamas, just desperate to get into bed at this point.

I groan in relief as I finally lay down in bed, my face smooshed against the pillow.

Grim settled into a loaf at the end of the bed, purring gently, and Miya layed down next to me, all stretched out.

I reach out and gently stroke her head, as her eyes close and her tail lazily wags. Grim meowed in annoyance as she almost hit him with her tail.

"Let's hope I don't get random calls from Aren at stupid o'clock tomorrow, eh?" I murmur, before letting out a long yawn.

Falling asleep doesn't take me long after that, my eyes falling shut.

🎶 You’ve turned the tables on me now, you’ve trapped me in your cage somehow,
I can never escape from you, but baby, that’s alri- 🎶 I smack my hand into my phone, shutting my alarm off.

The animals hadn't moved much overnight, Miya's head now rested on the pillow next to my head, and Grim was curled up between my feet.

Getting out of bed and starting my routine was the same as always... "... Wait, where did I get this shirt?" I say to no one in particular, observing the shirt I just took off.

It was a light grey in colour, a few small holes around the chest area. I don't remember owning this...

I chuck it into my laundry basket, not thinking too hard.

After I get dressed, I move to open my bedroom door, not thinking too hard when it's already slightly ajar.

My phone rings as I start to prepare Miya and Grim's breakfast. I hold my phone between my shoulder and my ear.

"Hello?" I murmur, concentrating on trying to not trod on Grim as he circles around my legs, meowing like he's never been fed before.

"Yuu, good morning" It was Kira. "Aren came in early today, she was complaining to me about her patients... And I think you're her next 'ranting target.'"

I groan in exasperation, placing Grim's food bowl down so he can eat. Miya looks distraught that her food isn't ready yet.

"Sevens, does she even have a life?" I say as I finally give Miya her food.

"Well, I just thought I'd warn you. Avoid the east hallways today." I visibly relax at her words.

"Fuck, you're my saviour." I sigh out, Kira chuckles softly at my words.

"Well, you're my friend, I don't want you to quit."

"Oh, well aren't you sweet." I chuckle softly at her, looking at my clock. "Eh, I should get going now. Thankyou for the call, Kir."

"It's no problem. See you soon!" She says warmly, before I hang up the call.

I pull into the carpark of Night Raven, already dreading the day ahead of me.

"Ugh, the pay is good, the pay is really good... This is worth it, for the pay." I mumble to myself as I get out of the car, trying desperately to will my feet to move into the building.
