I hummed a small tune to myself as I made my way down the hall. I was taking my sweet time to get to my next patient.

Down the hall, A doctor is standing in front of a fussing patient, trying to calm them down. I raise an eyebrow at the sight of them, tentatively shuffling down the hall to get a closer look.

I almost immediately regret this, as I see who the patient is. It was Moon, one of my old patients. They had shoulder length purple hair and piercing teal eyes. Worst of all, his mood swings were horrendous.

As I attempt to skirt past them, Moon spots me, his gaze locking onto me, a hate filled smile crossing his face. His wild purple hair covered the right side of his face, his left eye a vibrant teal.

I practically speed walk down the rest of the hall, reaching my next patients room quickly.

I hum as I read over the file, unlocking and opening the door.

As I stepped into the room, a low growl rolled through it, causing the hair on the back of my neck to prickle.

"Jack? There's no need to be hostile-" I tried to speak, but was cut off by another growl. Who I assumed was Jack was hunched at the foot of his bed, his ears folded back, his eyes wide and angry.

"Who're you?! Why are you here, where's the other one?!" The wolf beastman growled from his spot.

"I- I'm your new doctor." I swallow nervously, trying to stay calm as to not escalate anything. "My name is Yuu. It's nice to meet you."

Jack's ears flattened. "A-ah... Ahem..." His behaviour practically flipped, his posture rigid as his tail folds down between his legs.

"Sorry about that, doctor." He rubbed the back of his neck. There was a shock collar around it, by the looks of the slight burns around it.

"It's alright, don't beat yourself up.... But, If you don't mind me asking, why were you acting so hostile?" The obvious answer would be his 'wolf instinct', but I wanted to get more evidence to get Aren fired. They are not suitable for this job. At all. Their pride got in the way of their empathy, if they even had any in the first place.

"I thought you were the other doctor, Aren. They, uh... Weren't the best..." Jack tilted his head, his brow creasing.

"I know how you feel." I say reassuringly, tucking my files under my arm. "Would you mind if I came a bit closer? I have a few questions for you."

"Sure, I guess..." Jack covered his face with his hand, yawning as I stepped as close as he looked comfortable with.

As I stood in front of him, Jack looked at me in confusion for a moment. "... you don't have the remote?"

"I don't need it at the moment." I say in slight confusion. "I was going to ask you a few questions, as I mentioned."

"Uh, yeah, sure. Go right ahead." His ears fold back.

"Alright, first of all, do you have any idea why you developed such severe instincts? Well, besides from being a beastman of course." I say while clicking my pen, getting ready to note his response.

"Well, I've pretty much had them as long as I can remember. Though, I've gotten a few, uhm..." He clears his throat awkwardly. "...'Urges' that have gotten stronger recently..." Jack's ear twitched as he spoke.

"Hmm. Alright, thankyou for being so cooperative, Jack." I say as I write, happy that he wasn't being too closed off with his answer.

"U-uh, no problem, I guess." The beastman rubbed his neck again, a small blush on his cheeks.

The rest of the interview was smooth, intercut with Jack asking questions of his own.

But eventually, my phone once again buzzed with a familiar alarm. Time for the next one.

"Ah, it's time for me to head off. I'll be back either tomorrow or the day after, okay?"

"Oh, I'm... alright." Jack spoke quietly. He didn't know what to say.

I nod to him, before making my way out of his room, heading down the hall once again.

Jack POV

Well... They were pleasant. Definitely a lot nicer than I'm used to here. I'm not used to people being nice to me.

I reach up to my neck, tenderly rubbing the skin around my collar. The amount of times i had been mad and... getting shocked by it is sickening. I doubt these are going to heal anytime soon...

They thought it was hilarious. The shocks.
