Not Normal Pain

Ignore everything about the image except for the shirt. That's the shirt Furia wears when they go on Patrol. 

Furia's Pov

April stepped closer to me.

"This is why you stopped talking to me?!!?" She shouted angrily. I felt an all to familiar pain sting at my heart. I ignored it.

"I-I was going to tell you but..." My voice faded at the end. I looked away from April as a picture of my mom flashed into memory. I could feel some tears start to form in my eyes but I kept my face firm and blinked them away. 

"You didn't trust me?!" April voice cracked with sadness. I quickly turned towards her. I felt my heart crack with pain as I saw tears streaming down her face. 

"No April that's not it at all. I-I..." I swallowed hard. "I w-was scared." I stammered out. 

"Scared of what!?!" April screamed fiercely. I took a step back. I felt my eyes widen, my breath became hitched. Images started to flash in my memory. 

'Y-You got mutated into a freak?'  I watched as my mom looked at me frightened. I felt my heart pick up. Not this again, anything but this. 

'DON'T CALL ME THAT!!! I AM NOT YOUR MOTHER ANYMORE!!!!' I felt my heart slice open with pain. My eyes burned with tears, not falling just yet.

'I could never love a repulsive freak like you.' That did it. Tears trickled down my cheeks. I took a deep breath. 

"I'm...so...sorry." I whimpered out. 

"Furia?" I heard April question. 

"I-I just couldn't." I sniffled. I looked down at my feet. "My mom reaction to this was t-too much, I couldn't handle yours." I stated sadly. I waited for her to scream at me but it didn't come. Instead I felt someones arms wrap around me. I gasped, eyes wide, to see April was the one hugging me. 

"What did your mom do to you." She stated more than asked. I hugged her back tightly. 

"I missed you." I smiled at her. 

"I missed you more." She laughed. I chuckled. It felt great to get a friend back. We held each others hands. 

"So your fine with... this." I gestured to my tail and ears. 

"Furia your not the only mutant." She smiled. I looked at her strangely. "I'm a mutant."

(*TIME SKIP*)

I jumped on the couch next to Donnie, who gasped. I hovered over him.

"Watcha up to Don?" I smiled widely. I felt so happy April was my friend again so nothing could keep me down. I wasn't even nervous around Donnie and I am always nervous around him.

"Uh just listening to some music." He spoke nervously. 

"Oh can I listen?" I questioned.

"Well I..." He stopped mid-sentence looking at me. I put both of my ears down, pouting, tilting my head down and looking up slightly. "I uh Okay." He finally said giving in. 

"Yay." I spoke happily as I grabbed the earbud Donnie held out for me. I put it in to hear nothing was playing yet. I looked at Donnie confused, he looked nervous. "Uh can I choose a song?"

"Y-Yeah." He handed me a weird version of an IPhone. I looked through his music until I saw a song I didn't think he would have. Breakeven. Personally I love this song. I clicked on it and it started to play. I hummed along to the beat.
