Chapter 6

It was nearly dawn when I woke up because someone whispered my name. I looked up and saw Alby.
'You ready for the tour?' He asked.

I nodded and walked with him towards the east door. Everybody was still asleep, so the Glade looked peaceful. I saw Minho and an other guy run through the door.

We walked past the gardens to the wall where I got to cut my name into the wall. After I did this Alby said 'Now you're one of us.'

I smiled at him, and I wanted to ask him what was behind those walls but I didn't because he propably wouldn't have told me anyway. I'll ask Newt later.

The rest of the tour wasn't really special, Newt had already explained most of the things.
Alby just told me the rules, and about the jobs. I had to try each of them for a day starting today. I had to start with working in the Gardens.

After the tour I went straight to Frypan's, and saw that most of the gladers already eating their breakfast. I went to sit at a table with Newt and Chuck.

'Good morning, love.' Newt said, his Brittish accent obvious. Sweet. 'How was the tour?'
'Goodmorning! It was... interesting.'
He chuckled. 'Yeah right. You liar.'

'Okay it was pretty boring.' I laughed.

'Good morning Rosalie.' Chuck said.

'Hey goodmorning Chuck! You two don't mind if I sit at your table, right?' I asked.

'Newt doesn't stop talking about you, so I'm glad you are here, now he-'

'Chuck, shut it you little shank.' Newt's face turned red, but I just ignored it. It was cute. Did he really talk about me? What did he say?
Then he turned to me and said 'How did you sleep?'

'I slept pretty good actually, thanks for asking.'

Newt, Chuck and I talked during breakfast. After a while it was just Newt and me, and I just couldn't stand it anymore.

'What's behind those walls? I asked.

Newt answered with 'it's a maze. And every moment those doors open, the runners look for a way out.'

I looked at him, then to the East Door.
'A maze? How is that even possible?'

'I don't know, love, but I'll promise you the runners will find a way out someday.'

'How long have they been looking?'

'Three years...' Newt sighed and looked at me. 'But you have a job to go to, chitchat's over.'

I looked at him... Right, my job. Today I had to work in the Gardens.

Newt and I walked over to the Gardens and a boy with blond hair and blue eyes was waiting for me. He introduced himself as Zart. He was the keeper of the track hoes/ gardens.
