"I'll be right back. Try not to throw anything while I am away," Caius said. He was definitely concerned about me.
"Will do," I said and glanced over at Peter. He seemed exhausted.
Caius headed out of the room, then I sat on the bed and looked over at Peter.
"Izzy," Peter said.
"Yes?" I asked.
"I see the way you look at me. I know you love me, and I love you too but remember what I said?"
I nodded and looked down, "Our time was borrowed time," I responded.
"I am not here anymore. You have to remember that," he stood in front of me.
I looked at him, "But you are right here," I said.
"But you aren't mine anymore, as much as you and I could wish that was true. You are his, I was just temporary, you have to remember that," he said.
I nodded, "I am just so happy to see you again," I whispered, "I guess I am just ungrateful for what I have,"
"I'm not trying to say that Izzy," he sighed.
"No, I know, I know," I said and stood up heading over to Lilith, "I know I shouldn't want you still. I know you are dead. I don't know Peter," I picked up Lilith and began to pace, "What is wrong with me?" I muttered to myself. I took a few calming breaths. "I am ungrateful," I came to that conclusion, "I am happy," I quickly wiped my eyes, "You are right," I whispered, "I shouldn't look at you that way. I'm sorry," I looked at him for a moment before I looked down at Lilith, "You're right," I said again when everything hit me. "You are not mine anymore," I sat down on the bed.
I took a few moments and said nothing. I wanted to cry. I don't understand what I am feeling this way. "Where are the others?" I asked, "Are they still here?"
"No," he said simply, "They crossed over," he said.
"Why didn't you?" I asked.
"I wanted to do so, but I couldn't. Actually, I nearly did so but then I got a glimpse of what is to come, and I can't prevent it. I can't tell you either," he paused, "Something is going to happen Izzy, something really bad and I can't prevent it. And you are going to need someone and the only one that can be there for you is me."
"Why can't you tell me?" I asked looking up at him.
"I can't," he sighed and touched my shoulder, "I said enough as it is," he sighed.
What could possibly happen? "Won't Caius be there? I mean?"
"I can't say anymore. Something bad is going to happen soon," he sighed and placed his hand on Lilith's head for a moment.
I wanted to ask more but I knew I would get nothing in return.
"You look tired," I sighed.
"I am," he said, "It takes a lot of effort to be here," he sighs, "Throwing that lamp took a lot of effort," he chuckled.
.
.
.
I sat on the bed with Lilith. Peter had left. One moment he was there and the next he was gone. But he was right, I can't be with him and that's crazy of me to think that was even possible. It's not Izzy and you know that.
I know
I played with Lilith's hair until she fell asleep.
What could Peter possibly mean when something bad is going to happen? He couldn't tell me. Don't think about it Izzy. Whatever happens, happens. I began to doze off. I gasped opening my eyes feeling a hand. It was Carlisle.
How long have I been out for?
It was now dark outside.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you," he said.
"It's fine," I sighed.
Caius was also standing in the room. The look of concern on his face.
"Caius told me you saw Peter again?" he asked.
I yawned and nodded, "Yes, his ghost," I sighed and wrapped the blanket around me.
"Ghost?" He asked surprised.
"Ghost," I confirmed.
"How did you get to the conclusion of that?" Carlisle asked.
"He told me," I whispered.
"Is he here right now?"
"No, I don't know where he went. One moment he was here with me the next he was gone," I said and reached out my hand for Caius, which he took instantly. I pulled Caius to the bed. He sat down with me and placed his arm around me, "He says it takes a lot of effort to be here," I sighed, "Caius?" I looked at him.
"Yes?"
"I'm sorry," I whispered.
"For what?" he asked.
"I don't know, my erratic behavior, kissing a ghost, thinking I... I am still in love with him. I don't know why I feel that way. I'm sorry," I sighed.
"You're still feeling a lot of emotions," he sighed and hugged me.
"I'm just stupid," I shrugged, "And crazy,"
"Don't say that," he touched my cheek, "Do you really believe it is his ghost?"
I nodded, "I do," I whispered.
"Could it be possible Carlisle?" Caius asked, "Could she be gifted that way?"
"Possibly,"
"I mean, I came here deaf and now I can hear, anything could be possible, plus I am alive after almost being killed who knows how many times," I said.
"You're right," Caius rubbed my back, "Anything could be possible," Caius paused, "Carlisle, you remember Eleazar?"
"Of course I do, he is a good friend of ours," Carlisle said.
"He can tell other people's gifts, correct?"
"Yes," Carlisle stood.
"If she is gifted, he would be able to tell," Caius said.
"Indeed, I will give him a call. I am sure he would be willing to help," Carlisle said.
"I could be gifted?" I asked.
"It could be possible,"
"Gifted to see the dead?" I mused, "That would be pretty cool,"
"Have you seen anything else?" Carlisle asked.
"When I asked Peter about the others, he said they crossed over," I paused, I wasn't sure if I should tell him about the whole 'something bad is going to happen' situation. I skipped it for now.
"I will go call him," Carlisle said.
Caius and I nodded. Then, Carlisle left the room.
"I'm sorry," I said again, "For being selfish, for being ungrateful. I should be happy that I am with you. That should be enough. And it is, I am sorry," I touched his cheek.
"You are under a lot of stress. I'm not mad, just concerned. I will be by your side no matter what happens. Just no more kissing ghosts," Caius said and kissed my nose.
"Got it, no more kissing ghosts," I said and hugged him.
"So, it really wasn't you who threw the lamp?" he asked.
"Nope, really wasn't me," I said and looked up at him.
"Well, I guess, tell him stop throwing things at me," he chuckled.
fine I guess, I'll be nice
I heard Peter's voice in my head. I couldn't help but smile, "He said that he will be nice," I whispered, "Again, I am sorry for loving a dead man," I whispered.
"Peter did a lot of things for you that I could never provide. He gave you a human touch where I couldn't. I understand why you still love him, but he is gone," he touched my cheek.
"I know," I took a deep breath, "I promise, no more kissing ghosts. Thank you for believing me,"
