The silence stretched after Kai's words, and Taehyung blinked before bursting into laughter.
He clutched his stomach and looked at Kai like the very idea was laughable.
"Jungkook is already in love with someone else," Taehyung said between breaths, shaking his head. "He told me. And we're just friends."
Kai scoffed before he smirked. "Did he say who it was?"
"No, because he wanted that person to know it first."
Kai raised his eyebrow like the words he uttered held the answer, but Taehyung was hell bent on proving him wrong. He didn't even want to give Kai's claim a single thought--for many reasons. Just then, his phone pinged, and Taehyung took a step back, checked the phone. It was a text from Jungkook. /I'm here./
"Jungkook is here. He'll tell you the truth." Taehyung said with determination, his posture straightening as he walked out of the room without hesitation. Kai followed out and leaned against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest as he stared at Taehyung's leaving back. "This is gonna be interesting." He muttered with a smirk..

The moment Jungkook spotted Taehyung walk out, he smiled while pocketing his phone. The smile was too familiar, but Taehyung couldn't shake the feeling that something about it was different when he looked closely. Maybe he was just looking too much into it. Maybe it's just the stupid assumption Kai made that is messing with him and forcing him to see everything differently.
But he stopped analyzing, shaking his head, and wrapped his fingers around Jungkook's wrist, not bothering to greet him back. So unusual of him.
Jungkook frowned but let Taehyung drag him into the halls, matching his pace. "Where are we going?" He asked, his mind racing.
"I'll tell you. Something funny happened." Taehyung replied casually, and Jungkook nodded, letting out a sigh of relief, concluding it isn't something serious. He suddenly stopped in his tracks, stopping Taehyung too when he spotted Kai standing in the corridor. His eyes darkened, and his body tensed in anger.
Before he knew it, he reached for Taehyung, who looked at him in confusion and pulled him behind him, instinctively shielding him from Kai. Ignoring the action and completely unaware of the tension, Taehyung stepped forward and pulled Jungkook with him until they were right in front of Kai.
Kai smirked, entirely unfazed by the death glares Jungkook was throwing his way. They locked their eyes before he shifted his attention to Taehyung. "But what if Jungkook lies?"
Jungkook's jaw clenched. He didn't know what was happening, but he knew it was nothing good if it was coming from Kai.
Taehyung lifted his chin and replied confidently. "Jungkook would never lie to me." Jungkook turned to him, his expression immediately softening despite the lingering tension.
