It became a routine. The notes arrived like clockwork. He found them everywhere—in his bag, in his books, and with them came the flowers. The sunflowers, peonies, gardenias... each one holding a special meaning, and clearly Jungkook chose them with care. He knew flowers were special for them both; that's how their friendship started.
And the letters. God, those letters. They were like a mirror to Jungkook's feelings and emotions. His soul.
Each word on the letter was so raw, so intense that it'd claw at Taehyung's heart. He told himself he wouldn't read them, but every time, his fingers trembled and his chest tightened until he opened the letter. Those words... no matter how much he tried to forget, he just couldn't.
/Sometimes I think I started breathing only after I met you./
/Let me love you in silence if that's what you need. Just don't ask me to stop./
How would he forget when they were so beautiful? They played in his mind every second of the day, and he knew it wasn't a good sign.
He prayed Jungkook would just stop because he couldn't do it. He was nothing but a coward. A coward Jungkook doesn't deserve or need in his life. Jungkook deserves light, and Taehyung has long given his away.
Taeyong walked past his brother's room and halted in his steps when he heard Taehyung's strained voice. He noticed some changes in his brother since that day he found the mess in his room. He noticed how he was always lost in thought and barely smiled or talked to him, which is very unusual.
He frowned and peeked into Taehyung's room to see him with his phone to his ear, biting his nails. "Just stop, Jungkook..." He said, his voice hoarse. "Stop with the letters and flowers. Just... leave me be."
There was a long silence, probably Jungkook talking on the other side. Whatever Jungkook said, Taehyung just shook his head before he ended the call without a reply.
Taeyong saw him collapse on the bed as the tears came, followed by his silent sobs. He hated what he witnessed. With a heavy heart, he took silent steps back, not wanting his brother to know.

Jungkook sat on the floor of his living room with his arms resting on his knees as he stared at the can of beer in his hand. He barely drinks these days, wanting to change his habits. He hasn't touched any substances or gotten drunk like before since he realised his feelings, and touching another human intimately was out of the question even before he realised his feelings.
"Am I pushing him?" Jungkook finally asked, looking up at his friends, who were settled on his sofa. His voice was quiet and uncertain, like it was hurting even to ask. " Am I putting everything on the line for someone who's already made his choice?"
