Taehyung tapped his fingers nervously against his knee, his phone clutched tightly in his hand. All night, he prepared himself, thinking about every word, every angle to make Jungkook shine, to make those who don't know him understand his talent.

He'd taken a break from the university, put his own life on pause just to give Jungkook what he deserved. Upon hearing his name, Taehyung stood quickly while smoothing his shirt, and walked towards the CEO's office while gulping the lump in his throat.

"Please have a seat." The CEO said as soon as he entered, while looking at the sheet in his hand, probably to look at the name of the person he had an appointment with. "Mr Kim..."

"Thank you for seeing me, sir."

The CEO nodded before gesturing at Taehyung to proceed.

"I wanted to speak to you about the internship program. I have this perfect candidate." Taehyung said while unlocking his phone, ready to show him some clips he saved to show the CEO, but before he could turn the screen around, the CEO raised a hand.

"I'm afraid the deadline for applications closed a couple of days ago."

"I understand, sir. That's the reason I am here. Just take a look, sir. He's incredibly talented and I truly believe—"

"I can't go out of my way. We have a process. The race for the final selection round is in two weeks, and it'll determine who will take the internship. I am sure the time wouldn't be enough anyway..."

"Please..." Taehyung said, leaning forward. "Just watch one video. Thirty seconds. That's all I ask. Trust me, he'd be a great asset to your company too. And the pace he works at is just—"

The CEO's expression didn't change. "I'm sorry, Mr. Kim. I have another appointment waiting."

Taehyung's heart sank. He almost wanted to mention Mr. Jeon, knowing it'd make it easy, but he wanted them to recognize and accept Jungkook solely on his talent, which he was sure they'd do once they saw it on their own.

"Just watch one video and decide for yourself, sir. But just one chance. If you don't like it, that'll be it." Taehyung tried, but the CEO shook his head while pressing his lips together.

"Good day. Mr. Kim."

Taehyung closed his eyes and let out a sigh before he bowed and left the office while gripping his phone tightly.

Taehyung wasn't ready to let this go. There were only two weeks left before the race to select candidates for the internship, and he needed Jungkook to participate no matter what. Had he known a few days earlier, he would've applied. But he only found out after the deadline had passed.

He had one option, and the CEO refused. Taehyung wouldn't have questioned it if the CEO had seen Jungkook's work and said no. But he was dismissed without being given the chance to show how talented Jungkook was.
