PREVIOUS NIGHT:

The buzzing of the tattoo machine filled the studio. Taehyung sat still with his arm stretched out, the sleeve of his hoodie rolled up as he watched the artist prep the ink.

"First time?" The artist asked, settling in her chair, and Taehyung pressed his lips together before nodding. "You nervous?"

"A little." He said, wiping the sweat off his upper lip. Definitely not little.

The artist looked at Taehyung for another confirmation before the needle touched the skin, and Taehyung winced at the first contact. He bit on his bottom lip as the pain slowly felt like a tingle; it wasn't so bad, and it got better with time.

"A tiger lily..." The artist said, working with practiced ease. "If you don't mind me asking... why this one?"

His gaze immediately softened, thinking about Jungkook. "It's the birth flower of the man I'm in love with."

"Your boyfriend?" The artist asked, pausing briefly.

"Not yet, but hopefully soon," Taehyung said with a sad chuckle.

"Unrequited? Or yet to confess?"

"Neither. He was the one who confessed, but..." He let out a sigh before continuing, "...it's complicated. I don't know how things will turn out once all my secrets come out. I've been holding back... hiding things, and I don't know how he is going to react. But I need to come clean, and then, I'll leave the decision to him. If he still loves me after that... then I'll be the luckiest."

The artist didn't press, just nodded as Taehyung spoke in a trance and continued the tattoo in silence until it was done. Taehyung thanked her with a bow and was about to walk out of the shop when he heard her speak up behind him. "What if he doesn't accept... won't the tattoo be a mistake in the future? Something you'd regret?"

Taehyung looked over his shoulder, feeling his wrist throb. "No... never. Whatever Jungkook decides, it doesn't matter. He'll be my first and only love." He said, pointing at his wrist, before he walked out into the empty streets, running into Jungkook minutes later in this part of the city.

.

The moment Jungkook spotted his mother, he ran straight into her arms with a wide smile on his face, hugging her tight. She cupped his face immediately, kissing his forehead. "My baby..." She whispered, wrapping her arms around him again. "I missed you so much."

Jungkook smiled, kissing her head. "I missed you, too." He pulled away and looked at his parents. "When did you get here?"

His father smiled, placing a hand on his son's shoulder. "Taehyung wanted it to be a surprise. He said you'd race better if you didn't know."

Jungkook's eyes softened, a smile gracing his lips. "Of course he did."

"I was terrified watching you race." His mother said, brushing his sweaty hair from his forehead. "My heart nearly stopped every time you turned that corner."
