THE HEMMINGS TWINS

CHAPTER 17

LILIA P.O.V

I was getting into a routine with Dax. It was feedings every four hours, then a diaper change, and then he would go back to sleep. I did it over and over again. Once Dax was asleep, I would do laundry and clean the house and then I would sleep for an hour before he was awake again.

"Please come hang out. You can bring Dax. We all love him and my mom wants to meet him." Scarlett said into the phone and I sighed.

"Fine. I'll be over in an hour." I answered. I jumped in the shower and brushed through my tangled mess of hair before I jumped out and dried off. I could see Dax stirring in the crib but he wasn't making much noise, he was such a good baby and loved sleeping. Even when he was awake he didn't want to leave his crib. "Give me just a second and then we are going to go and see Auntie Scarlett!" I said tickling his belly. Luke came into the room just as I got my clothes on.

"Hey, the boys are coming over soon." He said.

"Okay, I'm going out with Scarlett." I answered.

"Did you eat something today?" He asked and I shook my head. "Eat something before you go so you don't pass out while you're driving."

"Will you make me a milkshake?" I asked.

"Yeah." He answered before leaving the room. While he did that I put as much makeup as I could under my eyes to make it seem like there weren't bags. Once I was finished and looked decent, I got Dax in his seat and headed down the stairs. "Here." He said handing it to me and I took it from him.

"Thanks, I'll see you later. Do dinner tonight?" I asked looking at him.

"Sure." He answered kissing the side of my head and holding the door open for me. "Drive safe!" He called from the doorway. Always, Luke, Always.

"Is Lilia here?" I asked.

"No, She went out with friends." Luke answered. "She'll be back before dinner. Me and her are going out." He finished.

"How is she doing?" I asked. "How's Dax?" I hadn't seen Dax in a week but I was giving Lilia time to herself and to figure things out.

"They're both doing fine." He answered and I nodded.

"I take it she brought him with her to hand out with friends?" I asked and he nodded.

"She doesn't leave him with anyone." Dax wasn't even a month old yet and his parents were split up and not talking. "She doesn't trust anyone." He answered. Yeah, I knew she didn't trust anyone. She barely trusted me.

"I just want her to know that if she needs help I'm willing to give her help." I answered and he nodded his head.

"She knows." I nodded my head. I didn't do the right thing, I knew I didn't do the right thing. But, with the tour coming up I knew that she was going to need to survive on her own and maybe if we both tried to do that now, it would work out in the end. "I think you just need to give her time right now." He said.

"I just don't want her to think that I'm not going to be there for her."

"She just needs time." He said and we dropped the subject. We played video games for a while before Lilia came through the front door.

"Hello, Boys." She said smiling at each of us.

"Hey, Lil." We answered back.

"Are you all joining me and Luke for Dinner? I'm gonna make you all eat some spicy stuff, and we can film it." She giggled.
