THE HEMMINGS TWINS

CHAPTER 36

LILIA P.O.V

21 weeks pregnant

Me and my mom had set out to give Dax the best Christmas he could ask for. Even though it was only the beginning of October and no where near Halloween. We wanted to get him as much as possible while we had the money to spend it. We left Dax with my dad so we would be able to spend the day together.

"I also want to get Dax a gift from his little sister. Just so he doesn't feel forgotten." I said as my mom drove.

"Sounds good. Karen wanted to come with us."

"I know. She texted me to see if it was okay if she could join." I loved Karen, she was an amazing grandmother to Dax and I know she's going to be an amazing grandmother to Henley.

I moved to the back when Karen got in the car and thankfully we haven't put the new car seat base in the car or I probably wouldn't have fit.

"So, we're going shopping for Dax?" Karen asked.

"Yeah. Something to him from the baby and for Christmas. I should probably also get him a Halloween costume." I said checking my phone. I was hoping that Michael would at least send Dax a Christmas present. Dax would be spending Christmas day with my family and would be spending Christmas Eve with Karen. I wasn't sure what she was telling her family about her relation to Dax but I'm sure most of her family knew that Michael signed over custody of him. "Also, Karen, I just wanted to let you know that I'm changing Dax's last name to Hemmings."

"Oh you haven't yet?" She asked.

"No. I was waiting to see if Michael changed his mind and then he didn't so." I said as we stopped for coffees. We quickly moved to the baby store to buy Dax some clothes and other toys.

"What are you guys doing for Christmas?" Karen asked.

"Our family is coming over to have a turkey dinner. I'm a little worried, there's a lot of them." My mom answered as I shopped trying to find a gift to give Dax from the baby. I began to feel her kick and every time I felt her kick it was like she was telling me she was there.

"She's kicking." I said putting a hand on my stomach and two hands went flying to feel it too.

"It's so cute. I miss my baby kicking me." Karen said and I smiled. I loved the feeling of my babies kicking. The birth, not so much but I still enjoyed every part of my pregnancies.

"It's a really great feeling." I smiled. Even at 2 in the morning when I was more than exhausted, she reminded me that she was there.

Getting closer and closer to the end of this tour was a really good feeling. I just wanted to be able to be home and be able to do nothing all day. Luke hadn't talked to me much anyway so it wasn't like I would be left behind like I usually am.

"How's Dax? Still sick?" I heard Ashton ask Luke.

"Nah, he's okay now. Lilia is buying him a present from the baby." Luke said.

"For what?"

"So when she comes he doesn't feel left behind." Luke said. I walked into the room and they both stopped talking.

"You don't have to stop talking about her just because I came into the room." I said and he shrugged.

"I feel as though you shouldn't know anything about them." I rolled my eyes.

"If you want me out of the band just say it Luke."

"I never said that. I'm allowed to be mad at you for doing that to sister. She should have just stayed with Ashton." Luke said.

"He cheated on her too." I pointed out.

"What is with you guys and cheating on people?" He asked and we both shrugged.

"Maybe it's Lilia." I smirked purposely being an asshole. I knew he wanted to knock me out but I also knew that he never would. His mom would be more than mad and he never wants to make his mom bad.

"God you're an asshole." He said leaving the room. I shrugged as I sat down looking at Ashton.

"We hurt her bad dude." Ashton said looking at me. "The last two relationships she's been in the guy cheated. She's never going to date another guy again." Ashton said and his words hit me like a truck. He was right. I ruined Lilia. I ruined everything with her. I ruined her life by getting her pregnant twice and leaving her, by cheating on her, by playing her. Everything I did, hurt her in some way.

Lilia was the best thing that ever happened to me. I stopped drinking when she got pregnant. I stopped going to parties to spend time with her and make sure she was okay. I let it all fall between my fingers and I regret everything I ever did to hurt her.

That night I went to bed feeling good about everything we had bought but just when I was about to fall asleep, my phone went off. With a groan I checked it. Two single words,

"I'm sorry." Was sent from Michael's phone and I laughed. There was no way in hell that was Michael.

"Give Mike his phone back." I sent back.

"This is Mike." I laughed again. Boys were crazy, there was no way in hell that it was actually him. He would never jut randomly text me that he was sorry. That's not something Michael would do.

"Wait what?" Then a call came through. "Hello?" I answered.

"It's really me." He said talking in a soft voice as if he was going to scare me but he was probably on the tour bus with the guys.

"What? Why are you calling me?"

"To say sorry. Lilia, I know I ruined your life and I know that there is no way that I'm going to be able to make it up to you."

"You didn't ruin my life." I said, he kinda did but he gave me two of my favorite people in the entire world. "Just screwed up a big part of it." I said and he chuckled, but I was being serious. "Whether you like it or not, we have two kids together. I will let you live with that for the rest of your life. I didn't get myself pregnant, Michael."

"I know you didn't. And I would have loved to raise those kids with you. I just... I screwed up big time and I know I did."

"Why did it take you so long to realize?" I questioned. It has never taken a guy this long to realize that he messed up. It's been months of me doing this on my own.

"When I realized how much I actually hurt you when I slept with other people. I shouldn't have done that to you."

"I can't forgive you. You screwed up Dax and Henley."

"You're naming her Henley?"

"Yeah." I answered. He would eventually find out and whether I liked it or not, he was still her father. "I loved you, you know." I whispered.

"I know you did. And I ruined it. I had the best person ever and I threw it away for some hook up."

"Was I not good enough?" I asked and he paused.

"It wasn't that you weren't good enough, Lilia. It had nothing to do with you, and everything to do with me."

"You could have just left me you know. It would have hurt less." I said wiping the tears that had fallen down my face.

"It wasn't that easy." He said. "The hardest thing I've ever done was get a divorce from you."
