THE HEMMINGS TWINS
CHAPTER 32
17 WEEKS PREGNANT DAX IS ALMOST 10 MONTHS OLD
I sat at the kitchen table with tons of different pictures sitting in front of me. Planning Dax's birthday was hard as it is, but trying to plan one and inviting Michael's side of the family was worse. I had gone to see Karen as soon as I got home to let her know that no matter what happened between me and Michael, I would never take her grandchildren away from her.
"Mom, I need help." I said calling her over to the table. Thankfully, Dax was down for a nap letting me pick out a theme for his birthday party and pick out invitations. Because the boys would still be on tour I didn't need to worry about seeing Michael.
"You're inviting Michael's parents?" I nodded my head.
"Just because I don't like their son doesn't mean I'm going to keep their grandson away from them." I answered and she nodded. "And they'll still be on tour anyway so I don't need to worry about Michael being there and causing trouble."
"He could still show up. They have the time off on this date."
"Well if he shows up, he shows up."
*TWO MONTHS LATER*
Dax was napping as I ran around setting up his birthday party decorations. I was hugely pregnant and I was thankfully having a little girl. Everyone has been sending me names for her trying to help me pick out a name and Karen has been so thoughtful and every so often she would bring over loads of clothes that she found from friends daughter's or at yard sales.
Karen also came over early to help me set up decorations for the party that was starting in two hours.
"Have you thought of any names?" Karen asked as we hung balloons on the chairs outside.
"I have a few idea's but I'm not really sure." I said shrugging. I was involving Karen with this as much as possible. I didn't want her to think that I was keeping her granddaughter away from her.
"Are you willing to spill?"
"I like Tinley. But Dax and Tinley? It doesn't really go together."
"You don't really need a name that goes with Dax. It just has to go with Hemmings." She said and I nodded. I hated the fact that my kids were going to have different last names but be 100% related.
"I like Harley. Or Henley is cute too. My mom doesn't like it though."
"I like them both. Do you have any middle names picked out?"
"Well if I name her Harley, her middle name with be Grace. Harley Grace. And for Henley I have no idea for a middle name." I said looking at her. I stepped back to look at the decorations and waiting for Dax to wake up.
"Looks good." Karen said. As she talked I had officially decided on a name whether my mother liked it or not. Now I just had to wait 13 weeks to meet my little girl.
People were already beginning to show up even though Dax was still down for a nap. Family and friends from all over came to celebrate with us and I couldn't have been more thrilled with the turn out.
*MICHAEL P.O.V*
Pulling up to the house felt good. I was home, I could see my parents for at least a few days. I could see my son and celebrate his birthday with him. I walked up the walk way and entered the busy house with a present in both of my hands.
"Michael?" Liz's eyes widened when she saw me.
"Hi." I said putting the present down and hugging her.
"What are you doing here?" She questioned.
"Well I came to give Dax a birthday present and I seemed to have stumbled across a birthday party." I said. I was a little angry that they were having a party without me.
"Does Lilia know you're here?"
"No. She doesn't. I won't cause trouble. I swear." I said and she nodded. "Where is my baby boy?"
"He's outside." She said as she put away the cake. I quickly walked to the back door and opened it, stepping out onto the deck where they were opening presents and each present he yelled with laughter and shouted 'mama' even though Lilia was sitting with him seeing everything he opened. In that moment I had realized that I had missed his first words and it wasn't dada.
People were glancing at me as my mother ran to me and hugged me.
"What are you doing here?" She questioned.
"I brought Dax a gift." I answered pointing to the house. "It was heavy so I left it in the living room." She nodded her head as I walked over to Dax and picked him up. He squealed with excitement when I showered his face in kisses. "Hi, Buddy." I smiled at him glancing down at Lilia who was just as surprised as everyone else that I was here.
"Dada!" He shouted wrapping his little arms around my neck.
"Happy birthday baby boy." He just shouted again smiling at me with his large green eyes. i set him down so he could open the rest of his presents as I sat down next to him and helped him. He continued with his screaming before he got bored and dragged my mom over to the bouncy house having her help him get into it.
"What are you doing here?" Lilia asked as she cleaned up the mess he had made.
"I came to celebrate my sons birthday with him. Is that okay with you?" She rolled her eyes at me. "I brought him a present." I said.
"Well thanks." She said still cleaning with the help of Scarlet and Cole. As the party came to an end, Dax ended up in my lap drinking a bottle.
"Can he come home with me?" I asked Lilia who agreed. She hadn't talked to me much but everyone was touching her belly and congratulating her and I felt like I shouldn't make her feel like a bad person. "I'll go pack his bag." I said standing up and handing him to her. I went up to her room to find no baby clothes so I headed down the hall to Jacks old room finding his crib and packing him a bag with clothes and diapers and other things I would need. "Say bye to mommy." I said going back downstairs to pick him up getting ready to take him home.
"Bye mama." He said hugging her and gladly going to my arms. I took him to say bye to Liz and Andy before heading back to my parents house.
"Hey." My mom said as I came in the door with Dax in his seat and he was sound asleep.
"Hi." I answered going to lay him down on my bed. "Dax is staying with us for a while until I go back on tour." I commented and she nodded.
"Are you hungry? I'll make you some food." She said.
"Sure." I answered sitting at the table checking twitter where paps saw me driving with Dax in the back.
"Have you talked to Lilia about the new baby?"
"Mom, I told you, I don't want any part of that childs life, and thats final."
*LILIA P.O.V*
I laid in bed that night feeling lost. I ran my hands over my stomach. I hated that Dax wasn't asleep in the room down the hall waiting for me to wake him up for breakfast tomorrow. I hated that Michael got to keep him too. I hated that Michael wanted no part of our daughters life. I hated everything there was to hate about this.
My mom came in and laid in the bed with me playing with my hair.
"You miss him as much as I do?" I asked looking at her.
"Yeah, I miss his cute little laugh." She said. "Have you talked to Mike?"
"No not really. But it looks like I'll be giving birth alone." Thankfully Luke would be home by the time I gave birth so he would be able to be around his little niece before he moved to L.A where he rented an apartment. And little did I know, so was Michael.
