Chapter 23: The Aftermath

-Later On That Night-

3rd Person POV

It was now pushing 10 o'clock and everyone was getting ready to leave. James, Rosie and Candace already left the rest of the family was in the living room, And they all were talking Shardae and Tiana noticed Melodie, she looked like she was about to throw up they watched as she whispered something in Denzel's ear then get up and leave the room. They figured she was going to the bathroom so they followed her. Shardae knocked on the door and once she didn't get a answer they just walked in and saw Melodie throwing up Shardae ran to her while Tiana closed and locked the door. Shardae held her hair back so she wouldn't get vomit on it after Melodie was done she flushed the toilet and brushed her teeth. Tiana gave her some water "Are you okay? Is it something you ate?" Shardae asked Melodie sighed shaking her head "No I think I might be pregnant." She sadly confessed she was hoping that they wouldn't find out this way. Shardae walked to the cabinet under the sink Melodie looked at her confused on what she was doing, Shardae looked back at her sister "I'm looking for a pregnancy test there usually under here." She admitted Tiana and Melodie looked at her wondering how she knew that. After looking for another minute, she didn't see one she huffed and sat on the edge of the tub she sighed "Its not one in there man I could've swore I seen some in there." She said sadly, Melodie sat next to her "It's okay i'll just get one from the store. And how did you know it would be one under there?" Melodie asked as Tiana got up and sat next to them "So the last time we spent a night I fell asleep on the couch. When I woke up I had to use the bathroom and since it wasn't no tissue I looked under the cabinet and I seen the pregnancy tests in there. But I was like half sleep so I could've been one of the other bathrooms." She said shrugging her shoulders "Maybe we should see if cookie has one?" Tiana asked Shardae nodded in agreement Melodie shook her head no "No I don't want mom to know yet." She said Shardae rolled her eyes "Why not? I'm sure she's not going to be mad." Shardae said "Right I don't think she'll be mad either she might even be happy." Tiana said Melodie groaned they were not understanding her. She didn't want her parents to know just yet, because she don't know if she wants to keep it or not she also don't know how Denzel is going to react to it. Shardae and Tiana looked at her wondering why Melodies not saying anything "Girl hello you just not gon say anything?" Tiana asked her Melodie rolled her eyes "Because I don't want to." Melodie snapped Tiana shook her head "I still say we should ask her." Tiana said "Yeah me too I'm bout to text her." Shardae said pulling out her phone Melodie grabbed it "Girl no I just said I didn't want mom to know." Melodie said putting the phone in her pocket.

Shardae rolled her eyes she understood why her sister was nervous but she felt like she was overthinking a little. "Ok well we don't have to call her but can I get my phone back?" She asked, Melodie shook her head "No." She said Shardae huffed. Tiana watched laughing as they started arguing its a good thing this house had thick walls. Meanwhile, Cookie looked at the time on her watch the girls hadn't came back yet and 45 minutes had already passed. She was getting worried she looked over at her husband who was busy playing pool with Jamal, Blake and Denzel so they weren't playing no attention. Once 15 minutes passed she groaned and got up she walked over to Lucious "Imma be right back baby. Im finna go use the bathroom." She said he nodded and gave her a kiss Jamal and Blake groaned "Come on pops we waiting on you. We getting old over here man damn." Blake said Lucious chuckled "Alright man damn." He said laughing. Cookie smiled and made her way to the bathroom once she made it to the door she could hear them arguing she shook her head her kids were always arguing over something. She knocked and no one answered so she knocked again "Shardae and Melodie whats going on?" She asked knocking once more she heard a lot of shuffling before the door opened she walked in and saw Melodie and Shardae standing by the sink and Tiana closing and locking the door. They all just stood there staring at her cookie looked at Melodie something was different about her she figured her daughter was pregnant she could tell by her nose and the way she glowing.
