Chapter 27: An Old Flame

-One Week Later-

3rd Person POV

It was 12 o'clock in the afternoon, and everyone was at Jamal's house planning for Lola's birthday party she was turning six today. They were almost done the only thing that was left to do was hang up the balloons. The women were in the kitchen chilling they figured why waste time doing something you hired someone else to do. While the men were doing the heavy lifting not like they minded anyway. After about an hour they were done so they decided that they might as well play some pool while they wait on the kids and guests to arrive. While they were playing pool the ladies went to go get ready so they each went into their separate rooms since Jamal wanted to have a massive sleepover for some reason. When they were finally dressed they went into their separate the living room to join everyone else. It wasn't long before everyone showed up and the kids were of course playing outside since Jamal had bounce houses, cotton candy machines, food trucks, pools and a whole damn playground. So they were occupied, some of the adults were inside but Jamal and Kai stayed outside to make sure that none of the kids hurt themselves.

Melodie and Denzel were at the cotton candy machine browsing the different flavors. "Baby you want strawberry or blue raspberry?" Denzel asked her, she shook her head for some reason she did not like cotton candy it was something about the texture. Denzel smirked he knew she didn't like it, he just wanted her to try it because ever since they were kids he always wondered why she hated cotton candy. "Baby come on just try it please." He said "No I don't want to it's nasty." She said making a disgusted face he laughed "Ok what are y'all in the mood for?" He asked rubbing her stomach she thought for a second "We're in the mood for some watermelon." She said smiling. He nodded "Ok well you go ahead and join the others imma go get you some watermelon." He said pecking her lips, she nodded and went to sit down with Cookie, Lucious, Jamal, Kai, Tiana and Jasmine.

About two hours later it was time for Lola to open her gifts. Kai handed Jamal a gold envelope that read for the birthday girls father on the back he then turned it over and saw that it didn't have a name of the person who sent it on it. "What the hell it doesn't say who it's from." Jamal said "That's because it came from me, her actual mother hello everyone." Olivia said Jamal glared at her now she wanted to be Lola's mother he then looked at his daughter who was hiding shyly behind Kai "What are you doing here? You're making my daughter uncomfortable." Jamal said standing up. Lucious pulled out
phone texting thirsty. He wanted him to give him Olivia's phone recording to try and figure out who gave her the address. "Oh I'm here because I am suing you for full custody. I want to raise her the right way." She said griming Kai, Shardae scoffed and stood up Olivia stepped back "Shardae nice to see you again." She said sarcastically Shardae smirked "Olivia, how you been I haven't seen you since I beat yo ass a couple month's ago." Shardae said chuckling.

Olivia rolled her eyes and the turned towards Jamal "Look I don't want any trouble I just wanted to say my piece leave." She said turning around and leaving. Jamal sat down and began reading the documents he sighed once he realized that the court hearing was next week. Noticing the stressful look on Jamal's face Lucious sat down next to him "It's going to be okay son, she's not going to get full custody she don't know Lola like you do. Please just try not to worry and let's enjoy the party." Lucious said Jamal looked at him and sighed he knew that Olivia would not win but still it hurt especially because she decided to tell him on Lola's birthday. But he thought that now's not the time for him to be in his feelings. And with that he cheered and began enjoying the party with his daughter.

-A Week Later-

Jamal was getting anxious that had been in this court room all day. And right now they were on recess Olivia had already called his family to the stand except for him and from the way that the judge reacted to cookie being in prison before he knew, he was close to losing his daughter. And with him representing himself he was even more nervous but he did have a few trick up his sleeve. Thirty's minutes later they were called back into the courtroom  Olivia's lawyer Ben stand up "You're honor I'd like to call Kai to the stand." He said Kai took a deep breath and got up Jamal sat quietly hopping that Kai wouldn't crack Ben got up and stood in front of Kai and cleared his throat "So Kai how long have you known Lola?" He asked "I've known Lola for seven months." He said smiling "Mhm and you've known Mr. Lyon for eight months correct." He asked Kai nodded "Are and Jamal sexually active?" He asked Kai scoffed "No we are not." Kai said "Hm but you would say that you two are in fact homosexual right?" He asked "Objection Relevance!!" Jamal shouted "Objection sustained, you're on thin ice Mr. Lancaster." The judge snapped he sighed "No further questions your honor." He said as he went to sit down.
