**COMPLETED***
Coming back to Beacon Hills with her brother, Blake Hale obviously knew they came back for a reason. But she wasn't exactly prepared to come for one reason, and stay for another. She wasn't prepared to go back to school, or to make fr...

Okay, so this is something I have spoken about briefly before on my message board and I can't remember if I've spoken about it in comments or author notes or not.
Normally, I would have posted this in my miscellaneous book but since this issue mostly happens in this book, I've decided to post it here. Also because more people probably get notifications for this book, more than my miscellaneous one anyways.
Now onto the issue. A lot of people don't like the outfits used in this book, and that's fine. Honestly, looking back at some of them, I myself don't even like them all that much now. I used to like them back in 2020 when I wrote this book though, but now not so much.
And its okay if people don't like what is used, everyone has different tastes. But some people are just way too vocal about their distaste for some outfits. You don't HAVE to voice your distaste, and frankly some people are just a bit rude about it. Like actively insulting me for the outfits and honestly that's just sad their part lol.
But I personally find a lot of these comments annoying. Especially the ones that leave links to other outfits and I'll explain why in a minute.
But, when I say rude, a lot of these comments are very easy read in such a rude tone. Maybe the person leaving the comment didn't mean it in a rude tone, or whatever but they feel rude.
Like literally in one if these chapters (most of these comments are in season 1 chapters) someone made a joke about "what if the author is actually in the pictures and that's why she's using them" and I had responded with "Trust me, I gave zero style."
A couple years later, someone then replied to my response with "I can tell"
What was the need for that? Lol.
Now here's my explanations for things-
1. This book was written five years ago, things that were "popular" then, are not as popular now. And a lot of the pictures I used were posted in 2020 or a couple years before 2020.
And I for some reason really clinged onto one specific fashion blogger's outfits back then lol.
2. The show was made and set in 2011. I try to keep things accurate to timelines on if my books/OC were actually part of the show. (Though some faceclaims are NOT at all accurate, like Zendaya in "Forbidden Love" because of ages 😂 she would have been like 15 in season one while everyone else was over 20)
I'm starting to branch away from that a bit now while still trying to keep things in the realm of "this could have potentially happened back then"
3. When I use outfits, it's just the clothes. Not any of the jewelry, hats, and sometimes lot even the shoes. Just the clothing. A lot of people have had issues with an outfit just because of the accessories.
4. When I'm picking out what outfits to use for books, I'm trying to fit them to match the OC's personality or supernatural or sometimes culture.
For some examples: • Blake, I gave her a lot of dark/edgy clothes to fit her mean/bitchy personality in the earlier seasons. And also to fit the classic Hale aesthetic. • Odette and Ivory, who have lighter or kinder personalities were given outfits with light colors. • OCs like Harlow, Fallon, Aurora and Iris were given more mature or professional outfits because they're adults and often at work and they're supposed to be more mature. • Azalea has a confident personality so I gave her more stylish/confident outfits. • Myeong is a Jeoseung Saja, and they are often said to wear a black hanbok so I made Myeong always wear all black or mostly black.
I think this really shows the best for Toni in "Forgive but Not Forget" as when she is pretending to be a good guy, I gave her clothes with lighter colors and an overall softer aesthetic. Then when she reveals herself to be a bad guy, she's given darker clothing. Then when she goes back to the good side, while still not pretending to be someone else, she's in a mix of lighter and darker clothes.
But because of this type of planning, when people comment links to other outfits, it annoys me. Because most of the time, said outfits are WAYYY out of the style I've envisioned my OC in.
And I know, this is such a unimportant thing to get annoyed with 😂 trust me, I feel like I'm overreacting half the time.
But it's like I have a vision for all these books and then people coming in and hating or trying to change things just irks me sometimes.
"The vision. And don't mock the vision!"
There's been other things that have annoyed me like- When people complain that Nova or Blake dont use their powers [especially after I've explained it in the comments several times or when they still complain after the story explains it]
Or when people complain about Blake being nice to Malia in season 4, or when Blake doesnt hold a massive grudge with people when I've explained why several times.
But the outfit situation is something I've been meaning to bring up for a while and just havent gotten around to it until now because of some recent comments.
Maybe I should move this chapter to the start of the books so people don't comment before seeing this.
And I'm also gonna start deleting a lot of comments regarding this annoyance, not because they annoy me, a lot of times I just annoyed for two seconds then I ignore them until a a new one comes.
But I know I have a lot of long time readers to defend me whenever someone criticizes anything I've done and I just don't want arguments in my comments. There's been far too enough already.
And I'm not gonna name anyone, please dont go searching for these comments to start arguments or to defend my choices. I'm not pin pointing anyone specific, but everyone who's left these kinds of comments, you know who are.
I also want to say that I'm not making this post just because these comments annoy me. I'm doing this to bring these comments to light in hopes that it'll get people to stop making such comments in general. Because I'm sure that if it annoys me, it annoys other authors who get the same, as well.
Like imagine the autors who wrote books 10 years ago with 2015 and older outfits are probably still getting outfit hating comments often. Sounds like a pain.
