Waking up, I make a two second decision. It's probably not the best idea but I can't help but feel left out on something important, something on the outside. I quietly tied my shoes and walked to the sink. I grabbed a cup and turned the tap on. I gulped down the water and put the cup gently in the sink. I took a knife from the kitchen and stuffed it between my bare skin and pants. I  grabbed my coat and hurriedly walked out the door. I jogged to the elevator and walled in. I pushed the TR button and descended undergrounded. I took a deep breath and walked out. I opened the first door that I usually trained in. I see a light in the storage room. I tiptoe over and peek into the doorway. There stands a small man looking  through the punching bags counting them quietly. I pulled the knife from my side and lunged at him. He yelps and I shove him to the wall.

"What the hell, Alex?" He gasps at me angrily.

"I am astonished you still know my name, Will." I said astonished.

"Of course I do, I was your neighbor when were little, now what the hell are you doing?"

"I want to join your squad." I demanded.

"Good joke, Alex. You were always funny." He chuckled and pushed my arm toward me, he kicked the knife out of my hand and I ducked to get away. He swung at me as I ducked and kicked his shin. He yelped in surprise. I punched his side and deflected his attempted blow to my head. I punched him on his left ear and blood poured out of it. He punched my right eye and I instantly saw two of him. He pushed me to the floor and pinned me down. He spit on my face and smiles.

"Your weak, Alex. You always have been. You give up to soon. You can't be a soldier, Alex. No woman can.  He chuckled. I looked quickly behind me as he continued talking. Behind him a powerful handgun was laying on the ground  -38 special handgun. I nodded along to his speech and geared up for what I was about to. I kicked his groin as hard as I could and slid through his legs. I grabbed the hand gun and pointed at him as he was getting up. He held  up his hands, silently pleading for his life. I was enjoying this.

"I am not as strong as you, I might not be as smart as you but we both know I would be a damn good soldier. I have emotion, as do you. I love this city. That is an emotion, a feeling. I don't ask for special treatment, I don't ask for any favors. I just want to do what I was meant to do." I pleaded, trying not to sound desperate.

"Fine, but once the secret gets out I will say I had no idea you were in my class. Clear?"

I smiled. "Crystal." I pulled down my gun and put my hand toward him. He shook it.

" You start tomorrow at 5:00 am. Now get the hell out of my training room." I nodded and walked out.

"Oh and Alex?" He called and I looked back.

"Don't tell anyone you pulled a gun out on me." I chuckled and nodded in agreement.

Walking back to my room. I couldn't help but be content with myself. One knife short but still I was gleaming with pride. I stood at my door and shook my head back in fourth. My mother couldn't find out. She was still fragile with my father's death and I didn't want her to think there was a risk to loose me too. I slipped through the door and climbed into bed. I fell asleep with a smile on my face and hope in my heart.

The lights turned on and instantly my mother breathed a long groan and crawled into the bathroom turning on the shower. I pulled myself out my bed and quickly made it. I walked over to the small kitchen and made the daily breakfast. I hummed a random tune and skipped back to my bed. My mom walked out with the wet towel in her hand.

"Why are you in such a good mood?" My mom asked accusingly. I had to think quickly.

"Three days left of school. I can't wait to end it."
