I'm Home

The music blared from the room and I turned to the man standing to me.

"Who are you?" I ask and he links his arm to mine.

"I'm your father for the day." He answers, looking forward.

"What's your name?" I ask and he sighs.

"For you it will be father." He orders and I nod in understanding.

The doors open wide and we are faced with an audience, staring straight at me. I breathe deeply and start to walk. I remember what they told me yesterday at rehearsal and try not to trip.

The man pulls me along and I fake a smile. I nod to the people along the aisle and they smile back at me.  My flowers I hold are fake and foul smelling. I finally get down the aisle and my father kisses my cheek and shakes hands with Malak. Then he sits down by who I assume is my mother. Malak pulls me along and stands across from me.

"You may sit." The justice of peace called out and everyone sat. "We are gathered here today to celebrate the love of Malak and Alex." I shivered at the statement. "Who gives this lovely woman away?"

I look to my mother and father and they stand up with arms linked.

"We do." They happily say in unison and I roll my eyes before turning back to Malak.

"Does anyone have any objections?" The man asks before a shot goes out and he  falls to the ground. The entire crowd gasps and I look to the floor. The man had a bullet in the back of his skull. I look up and think quickly. I rush to Malak with an embrace and as he hugs me back I pull out my dagger and stab his shoulder.

He goes to the floor and I run. I throw my flowers at a member of the audience and lose my shoes. I burst through the doors. Irene waits for me and we begin to run together through the halls, only stopping occasionally to hide from a guard or maid. I am surprised no one has followed us yet, but then realized what was happening. My city was here. Backing me up.

I ran until I began to lead Irene, though I have no idea where we're going. I turn back around to check on Irene and see she isn't there. I stop suddenly and back down the hall and find a adjacent way. I saw a mans back and see Irene's gun on the floor. I hear muffled cries and know the man is holding her. I pick up the gun and walk quietly over to the man.

"Let her go." I say and the mans back stiffens.

"Don't shoot." The man orders as he puts his arms in the air.

"Why shouldn't I?" I ask and take a step closer.

The man slowly turns around and I instantly recognize the face. His mouth curls into a smile.

I run and jump into his arms. He lifts me and spins me into the air.

He finally puts me down and grazes his lips across mine. I pull into a kiss and I can feel him smiling. I finally break the kiss and smile back at him.

"I've missed you." I breathe and grins from ear to ear.

"I told you I'd come for you." He says and kisses me again.

"Where's the best place for me to throw up?" Someone mumbles. I look over Jake to see Irene leaning on the wall, picking a nail.

Jake turns and chuckles at Irene's comment.

"I'm sorry about abducting you." Jake says and Irene smiles.

"Don't worry about it. I have heard a lot about you." She says and shakes his hand. His other hand grabs mine and squeezes. It wont leave until we're out of here, I'm sure.
