"Okay well I disagree!" Jake yells at me from across the room.

"Hate to break it to you but it's not your decision." I answer with a snarl.

"What if they have better technology? What if they can find us?" Jake asks the room.

"We have to take risks." I say.

"Not if it means risking the lives of our people." He hisses at me and I roll my eyes.

"Everyone will be safe." I reassure him.

"How do you know that?" He asks rudely.

"Why are you guys acting like enemy's here?" The president asked, sitting at the end of the conference table. Someone smirks by the door and we all turn to see Ben leaning on the wall, smirking. I glare at him and shake my head.

"What's so funny, Ben?" The president asks him. He glances at me and then to Jake, who is confused to what is happening.

"I heard a joke this morning and I was thinking about it." He lied badly.

"Well can I hear it?" The president asked, excitedly.

"Um not right now, it's a tad inappropriate." He explains and the president nods, sadly.

"Another time?" He asked hopefully.

"Of course, Sir." He promises and the president looks back to us.

"I have made up my mind. The plan that Alex has made is wise. We will do it." He orders and I smile while Jake flinches in surprise.

"Are you kidding me? With all due respect sir, the plan is foolish." Jake admits. The president looks at him with stern eyes.

"Don't question me, young man." He orders and Jake rolls his eyes and walks out of the room.

"What's his problem?" The president asked me. I shrug my shoulders and he sighs, walking out the conference room, leaving me and Ben alone.

"Thank you." I say and he nods. As I walk out the door he calls my name. I turn around and look at him.

"It's a risky plan." He says to me and I smirk.

"What's life without a little risk?" I ask deviously and he chuckles.

*******

"Come on Jake. Just open the damn door." I order as I knock. The door swings open and I put my hand down and welcome myself in his room. He rolls his eyes at me and shuts the door.

"What do you want?" He hisses, not looking at me.

"Well for starters I wouldn't mind some eye contact." I snarl. He stops what he's doing and looks at me straight in the eye.

"We can't hide from the war forever. One day they will come knocking on our door, and we will have to plead for our lives. We have to do something before nothing can be done." I insist. Jake sits down on his bed and runs his hand through his hair.

"Courage is challenging to obtain when you have so much to loose." He breathes. I walk over to him and hold his hands.

"You won't lose anything." I say and he looks up at me.

"How can you possibly promise me that?" He asks. I think about for a minute and look down at our intertwining fingers.

"I can't." I whisper and look up at him. He shakes his head and walks to the door. He motions for me to leave and I stand up to go. I stop in front of him and kiss his cheek. He does nothing in return and I walk out of the room. He slams the door behind me and I walk down the hall, alone.
