"Get him in a tent NOW!" I yell at them and they hurry to a near by tent. I hurry after them. They set him on the cot and someone hands me the first aid kit. I try to open it and the contents burst all over the floor, spreading everywhere. I curse and pick up the cotton balls and apply pressure to my dad's wounds.

"Someone get me some water!" I order at the surrounding men. One of them exits and comes back with a canteen. I pour the liquid on the wounds and he flinches in pain. Someone comes in and kneels by me.

"I studied medicine." The man said next to me. I looked at him with watery eyes. "You can trust me." I nod and he pushes me out of the way. I stand and look at the view in front of me.

My father looks no different than he did four years ago. His hair is a bit longer and his wrinkles are more prominent. Someone grabs my arm. I look up to see Jake.

"You shouldn't be watching this." He whispers and I look at him with tears rolling down my eyes.I run out of the tent and collapse by the fire. Jake sits by me and starts to rub my back. I lean on him and he runs his hands through my hair. We sit like that for a while, with no words emitted. The man who studied medicine walked out.

"He's stable if you want to talk to him." He offers. I look and Jake and he nods. He helps me stand up and I walk in to the tent alone. I sat on the ground next to the cot.

"Hey boo." He breathes, staring at the ceiling.

"You are supposed to be dead."

"Is that how you greet your father?" He jokes.

"Cut the shit and tell me why your breathing."

"I went to win the war that didn't happen. They threatened to kill me and I pleaded for my life. So they made me a soldier. I was sent to kill one of the soldiers on your side." He breathed.

"You coward." I glare at him.

"I did what I had to do to survive." He corrects quietly.

"You betrayed the city." I hissed.

"I am sorry boo." He pleads for forgiveness. I shake my head and walk out of the tent. No one is outside, all of the men have retired to their tents. I kick a rock and its skips through the woods. I walk out of the base and into the deeper part of the woods. The trees were pine, dead from all the pollution. I sit down at the base of a pine and pick at a pine cone. I hug my knees and sigh. I hear footsteps and I see Jake coming towards me. He sits down behind me. We sit for a while with no words.

"I looked up to my father for eighteen years." I breath. "I thought he was the best soldier that Valmeadow ever had. Turns out he is a traitor and now I forgot what I am fighting so hard for." Jake looks over at me.

"I don't think you did it for your dad. You did it because your brave." He insists. I smile and he leans in closer. He brushes the bangs from my face and grazes his lips against mine. He hesitates but I pull him closer and kiss him gently. He pulls me closer to him and kisses me again. I pull away and smile at him.

"Can I talk to you Alex?" Someone called. We jolted and looked towards the voice, to see David standing a couple feet away from us. We quickly pull away.

"I'm sorry did I interrupt something?" David asks.

"Yes." Jake says at the same time I said. "Of course not."

"I'm going to go." Jake said and kissed my forehead.

"Sweet dreams."Jake said whilst standing up. He walked away and into his tent. David turned to me and raised his eyebrows while smirking. I rolled my eyes and stood up.
