autumn
"You don't have to ask," Autumn chuckled lightly.
Luke smiled at her before leaning in to kiss her.
"Slow down, lovebirds, your food is here," The waiter said, followed by the sound of plates being placed on the table.
Hastily, they moved back before their lips had even touched.
Exchanging awkward looks, they grabbed their meals, trying to ignore the smug grin on the waiter's face.
Autumn wished they hadn't been interrupted because she really wanted to kiss him.
"Enjoy your meal," The waiter said, turning on his heel and walking away.
Lifting her glass of water up to take a drink, Autumn glanced over at Luke.
"I won't try to kiss you in a diner next time," He chortled, catching her gaze.
His teeth tugged at his bottom lip, suppressing his laughter.
"You're a good singer," She complimented him, trying to ignore that she thought Luke looked undoubtedly irrestistable when he bit his lip.
"Thanks."
As they sat and ate, Autumn found out more about Luke. She hadn't even known him for a week but already knew quite a lot about him.
Obviously, he knew quite a lot about her too. Eventually, if they continued going out, he would find out about her past and her illness and Autumn dreaded it.
-
After paying, they left the diner and drove to the cinema.
Autumn had this newfound zest as she sat in the passenger seat of Luke's car, watching Luke sing along to the blaring music.
"Girls don't like boys, girls like cars and money," Luke sang loudly, continuously glancing at Autumn with a wide, radiant smile on his face.
She was having a good time, an amazing time actually and wanted to savor every moment because she knew when she got back home all the bliss and exuberance would be gone.
-
"I'm glad you didn't bring me here to watch Minions. I would have left," Autumn told Luke as they sat down in their seats.
"Well," He laughed. "I didn't really think about the movie. I was just going to pick a random one but Ashton's girlfriend said this was good."
"Ashton's girlfriend?"
Her and Ashton had talked about current relationships and he didn't mention that he had a girlfriend. Although, he didn't say he was single either.
"Yeah, have you met her?"
"Uh no. What is she like?"
Autumn wasn't bothered that he had a girlfriend. Why would she be?
She was merely curious about what was going on in Ashton's life.
The day before she had apprised him with a lot about what had happened in the past two years and although she did find out about his life too, she didn't get as much as information as she had given him.
"She's basically the girl version of Ashton but instead of drumming she likes comics," Luke said, fiddling with the straw of his drink. "How do you even know Ashton anyway?"
"We went to the same school."
She could have said that they had been best friends for six years but she didn't.
Roughly an hour into the movie, Luke whispered in Autumn's ear, "This is boring. Do you wanna go?"
She honestly thought the movie was tedious and unexciting.
"Okay."
-
Following fifteen minutes of driving and Luke's singing, three minutes of walking and a trip in an elevator, Autumn and Luke stood inside the same apartment they had visited on their first date.
As Luke briefly explained, his brother was on a business trip so he was allowed to stay at his apartment whenever he wanted - until his brother got back, of course.
Autumn took a seat on the couch and thought back to two days ago when her and Luke sat on the rooftop and how spectacular the view was.
With several blankets in hand, Luke sat down beside her.
They rested their feet on the coffee table and covered their bodies with the blankets.
Autumn placed her head on Luke's shoulder as he put an arm around her, pulling her closer to him.
"Have you seen Skins before?" She asked after a few minutes of browsing through the shows and films on Netflix.
"No. Is it good?"
"Yeah, it's amazing."
It was one of her favourite TV shows of all time.
"Let's watch it."
Autumn played the first episode and put the remote aside.
The proximity between Luke and her for some reason made her feel safe and carefree.
It was one of those feelings that made her feel as if she could stay there forever.
As they watched the episode, she answered several questions Luke asked her - most of them about the characters - and admired how adorable he sounded when he laughed.
Towards the end of the episode, Autumn could feel her eyes start to close and minutes later she was asleep.
