"Hiiiiiiii!" Michael hollered down the line.

"Hiiiiiiiii," Autumn hollered back as she entered her house, closing the door behind her.

"Just wanted to check if you still wanted to come."

"Of course."

"Okay, woo! Cya."

Autumn shut the front door behind her and dumped her bags on the couch.

The house was empty, just like it always was in the day.

The only other person that lived there was her mother but she was always working and even if her mother was around she wouldn't speak to Autumn.

She accepted that she would probably never have a good relationship with her mother and managed to find things to occupy herself at home.

Autumn strolled over to the kitchen and pushed the door open, only to jump backwards slightly when she entered.

"Finally!" It was her best friend, Eva, sat on the counter and eating a sandwich.

"You scared me! How did you get in here?" Autumn asked, placing her hand on her chest.

"Your mum let me in."

Autumn's mum was pretty much always at work in the daytime.

"She was here?"

"This is her house, isn't it?" Eva climbed off the counter and started searching through the fridge.

"Yeah, she just doesn't come back in the day a lot." Autumn shrugged and started fiddling with her bracelet.

Her mum worked from 8am to 6pm and after she would go out with her friends until 11pm. This was the same routine every day of the week besides Sunday. On Sunday, her mum did things like get her car washed and buy new clothes. As long as the thing wasn't at home, she would do it.

"Where did you go last night?" Eva inquired, opening a can of sprite.

"I just went to this guy's house."

"Get in there, Autumn!"

"No no, not like that."

Eva took a sip of her drink and just smirked at Autumn.

"Sure," Eva mumbled and Autumn just rolled her eyes.

After ten minutes of random discussions, Eva left, leaving Autumn enough time to make herself look half decent.

"Can I have this one?" Autumn asked, holding up a CD she had found in Michael's car.

"No way! None of those are mine. That one is my dad's, I think," Michael explained. "When's your birthday?"

"August 29th."

"I'll buy you it for your birthday."

"How do you know we will still be friends in August?"

Michael turned into a driveway and parked the car.

"Be optimistic!"

Autumn wished she could be but unfortunately pessimism was a side effect of her illness.

Michael lead Autumn into the garage of the house. It was fairly large and had two torn leather couches by one wall and at the back sat a drum kit, two guitars and a bass guitar.

"Hey Luke!" Michael yelled across the garage.

Imagine if it was the Luke I had met earlier, Autumn laughed to herself.

The person turned around and walked towards Michael and Autumn.

As soon as Luke's face became visible, Autumn's jaw dropped.

It couldn't be the Luke she had met a few hours ago, she thought even though he was right in front of her.

He stopped when he was a meter in front of Autumn, a smirk appearing on his face. "Hello again."
