"Thunder Slash!" Ren chants, his sword glows brighter and takes on a longer form. "Thunder Shot!" Itsuki chants, the red glow of Itsuki's spell is enhanced as the spell's bubbles enlarge themselves—a flicker of surprise flashes in their eyes as they launch their attacks. The spells merge and multiply as they travel. The aura of the spells combined causes the ground to shatter and the air to fill with crackling noise. The attack breaks the Pope's barriers.

"Filo, Raphtalia!" Naofumi shouts. Raphtalia climbs on Filos's back, and they make their way to the Pope. Once close, Raphtalia jumps off and swings her sword. The Pope blocks connecting his weapon with hers. Raphtalia's sword glows to the Pope's surprise, and she slashes him; the magic emitted by the blade slices his cheek, and he stumbles backward. Raphtalia and Filo land next to Naofumi. Balmus digs the tip of his sword into the dirt and takes a knee; blood drips onto the ground underneath. A healing glow covers Balmus, and he's back up.

"Minato, Kenta, status!" I connect to their thoughts as I fire off some bullets.

"Things are going smoothly," Minato responds with a suspicious tone.

"Same thing here, although my invisibility is starting to wear off," Kenta responds.

"Minato, speak your mind." I say as I study the battlefield before me, 'Who, where, and what kind of support does everyone need?' Minor status updates pop into view above everyone, almost like a speech bubble. 'This is new,' I load my gun with status-effect bullets, aim, and fire in the Pope's direction.

"This feels strange," Minato says.

"How so?" Kenta asks.

"Isn't this a bit simple and easy?" Minato inquires, "Granted, with our invisibility, and the followers' eyes closed, no one can suspect anything, but I don't know. I could just be overthinking it." I look up at the Pope to see no change in the sanctuary or otherwise.

"No, you're right, I'm sure you've taken down at least half of them by now, and yet it seems just as strong," I comment as I fire off another round of bullets, each one shatters a part, but then new ones take their place instantaneously. 'Could it be the cathedral spell? No, that can't be it. The cathedral takes up a lot of mana, and with their numbers dwindling, it would be too much to heal, keep the cathedral up, power the weapon, and heal the Pope. It's either that they have far more numbers than what we saw, or there's some other outside source.' My gaze studies the cathedral.

"Kenta, or Minato, do either of you sense anything or anyone within the vicinity or just outside of it?" I ask them.

"No." Kenta and Minato respond.

"Roughly what are their numbers?" I ask.

"I think we've taken down at least half of them." Minato estimates.

"If that's the case, why is there still so much power?" I pause as I load my guns with the emerald bullets and fire them, "Do you see any stronger spots amongst the remainder?"

"It's hard to tell, but yes," Kenta says.

"Go for the stronger sections, but be careful, there might be some kind of protection at work," I comment.

"On it," they respond.

"Filo, it's time," Naofumi says as he jumps onto her back.

"Onis, you go with them," I order. He roars and jumps beside Naofumi and Filo. I hold out my hands.
