Mirai Iwatani Level: 41
Kenta Level: 44
Ezra Onizaku Level 51
I lay in a soundless void, staring into the nothingness surrounding me. Silent mind, broken soul. I'm trapped—trapped in the endless abyss devoid of feeling. Nothing I can do but wait for it to swallow me whole. I blankly stare ahead of me. My cheek grows cold with a sudden drop. I touch my face and look at my finger. A singular magenta pearl stains my fingertip.
". . .do it?. . hasn't woken. ." A muddled voice echoes around me.
"break. . . She was dead. . . Expect. . . Easy," another chimes in. My fingertip grows warm, drawing my attention back. The magenta began to glow as it spread over my hand, burning away the shades of the void. My eyes close as the warmth courses through me.
I awaken to blurs of red.
"Mirai!!" Kenta shouts. My gaze focuses, and I find a fiery red canopy above me. "You're awake!" I turn my head to the side, meeting Kenta's gaze. I open my mouth to say something when a flood of words crashes into me. I close my mouth and turn away.
"What. . .are you doing. . here?" I ask harshly.
"Don't get pissed at me, you're the one who didn't read between the lines," Kenta states. I grip the blanket, "I told you to leave me, and what did you do? You stayed and then got yourself killed. You're lucky I found you when I did; otherwise, you wouldn't have made it."
"Grow up, Kenta!" I snap as I shoot up, "You know damn well how much your words hurt me, and yet you insist that this was all my fault!" I tighten my grip on the blankets.
"Mirai lay down. You're-"
"After all this time together, I was in shock that you, of all people, would say those things to my face!" tears well up in my eyes. So tell me, Kenta, when someone's in that state, how could anyone read between the lines?!" I yell as I lower my head, allowing the tears to drip onto the blanket.
"Mirai," he attempts to reassure me. I slap him away and glare at him.
"Get out. You've caused me enough grief," I state. He hesitates for a moment before getting up and walking toward the door.
"Fine, have it your way," he replies, placing his hand on the door and disappearing around the corner. My body trembles as my rage boils within me.
"I don't think I'll be able to forgive him this time," I tell myself as I lift my hands. But is this for the better or for the worse?" I ask myself, my heart throbbing painfully, and I fall onto my side. 'Wha-what is this?!' I grip my clothes, gritting my teeth as I curl into myself, my chest burning with each heartbeat. 'Wha-what's happening to me?!'
"Arggghhhhh!!!" I let out a scream, "It burns!" I squeeze my eyes shut, hoping to concentrate on breathing, "It's no use. I can't-" I violently cough into my hand, my throat feeling like it's on fire. I move my trembling hand away to find it stained red.
"Mirai?" I open my eye to find Kenta poking his head into the room.
"G-Get out!" I yell as I cough into my hand again. The burning spreads throughout my body. I grip the blanket until my knuckles turn white.
"Something's wrong!" Kenta says in the distance. Some kind of red panda spirit floats in and stares at me. Its eyes widen, and it turns toward the door.
"Ezra, quick, she needs immediate attention!" the spirit alerts before floating over to me.
"Again? You're kidding," I hear a contemptuous tone in the distance.
