Ezra Onizaku Level 50
Walking down a bustling street, a cloaked young man walks toward a multi-floored building. Flowering pots line the railings of the balconies. Drunken conversations and the clinking of glasses can be heard from the windows. He enters the building and sidesteps a person who was thrown. "Hey, bub, that was uncalled for," the man slurs as he stumbles and returns inside, raising a glass. The cloaked man walks up to the bar top and takes a seat.
"What can I get for you?" the barkeep asks as he shakes someone else drink.
"I'll take a Pad Thai cocktail, please." He responds with a smooth tone.
"Here you go, sir," The barkeep grabs the ingredients. "So, what brings a stranger like you to this town?"
"A job," he replies bluntly.
"Ah, another adventurer, huh?" he asks. "Where are you from?" The barkeep pours his drink into a glass and hands it to him.
"Out of town," he replies. The bartender goes to say something when a hand appears on the man's shoulder.
"Oi, that's my spot," a burly man slurs, slamming his glass on the bar top.
"An empty seat is no one's spot," the cloaked man replies.
"Huh? Are you trying to start a fight with me?" the burly man asks. The cloaked man sips at his drink.
"Nope,"
"That's my seat," the burly one insists. The cloaked man ignores him.
"Oi!" the burly man grabs his cloak. "What're you hiding?" he sneers, pulling the man's hood down.
"Wait a second," the man says, as he proceeds to grab a handful of the cloaked man's hair, "That silvery, red hair and weird eyes, you're that bastard healer that everyone's talking about,"
"Do you mind?" the man replies, grabs the other man's wrist, and squeezes. The other man lets go of him. He reaches for his drink.
"What the hell is some traitor doing here?!" he shouts as muffled conversations arise from the rest of the patrons.
"A job," he says, shooting back the remainder of his drink and placing his payment on the counter. "Keep the change," he says, meeting the barkeep's eyes before leaving the restaurant. He then walks toward the reception desk, all eyes on him.
"Good evening, sir. Welcome to Snoozy Booze Inn." He stops at the desk. "How can I help you today?" The receptionist's demeanor changes when he meets the cloaked man's gaze.
"I'm here for someone named Zizifu."
"I'll check the list," the clerk turns away, rummaging through a drawer.
"Did you hear that? It seems he's here for a job," patrons mutter.
"We should probably leave before we hear something we regret." another replies.
"Room 490,"
"Great, thanks," he replies as he walks toward the stairs. The clerk grabs his arm.
"Finish your business and get out of here before I call the guards," he says spitefully, letting go of Ezra's arm.
The young man heads to the stairs.
"That was completely unnecessary." an owl-sized red panda spirit appears out of thin air and floats alongside him.
"No point thinking about it. It's always the same." He replies as he arrives on the 4th floor.
"Nothing will change if you don't do something, though," the red panda says.
