"Amiah, I swear to God, I'm not making this up. It was her," I whispered into the phone, my voice low despite the privacy of the soundproofed corporate jet. The cabin was plush, all cream leather and polished wood, a stark contrast to my usual cramped flights. Rumi was giggling with Sir in the large seat opposite, pointing at something on a tablet the size of a small television. Blue Ivy sat a few rows back, headphones on, seemingly unbothered by the chaos of her younger siblings, or the surreal drama unfolding beside her.

"Y/N, are you telling me... are you telling me the woman you've been dating, the one who's been Facetiming your ass for weeks, the Giselle you were about to have a dramatic breakup with... is BEYONCÉ?!" Amiah's voice was a high-pitched shriek, easily audible even through the phone. I winced, glancing to make sure no one had heard, though the hum of the jet engines and the soft music playing probably muffled it.

"Yes, Amiah! The Queen B. The one and only. My 'girlfriend'," I stressed the word, still trying to wrap my head around it. "She's literally five feet away from me. Her kids are calling me by name because they remember my face from the screen. This is... chaos."

"Chaos? Y/N, this is a movie! A whole damn Netflix series! Did you really just agree to go to Vegas with Beyoncé? Like... to THE Vegas? With the lights and the shows and the crowds?"

"What else was I supposed to do? Walk away? She was asking me to stay, Amiah. Her actual words were 'Do you want to come to Vegas?' And then Rumi popped up, asking if I was coming, and her baby father was calling for her..." I trailed off, the memory of the dressing room still vivid, the scent of her, the plea in her eyes. It was a perfect storm of emotional manipulation (unintentional, maybe, but effective nonetheless) and my own damn undeniable feelings.

"Oh my God. And you said yes. Because of Rumi." Amiah sounded exasperated, but I could hear the excitement bubbling beneath her disbelief. "You're such a sucker. But also... Beyoncé."

I chuckled, a hollow sound. "Yeah, also Beyoncé. What is my life?" I paused, watching as Sir pointed a chubby finger at me, then back at his tablet. "They really do remember me. It's wild."

"You better be sending me updates every second, Y/N. Every single second. Is she still Giselle? Is she full Beyoncé now? Are you sleeping on a bed of money?"

"I'm on a private jet, Amiah, so probably not far off," I mumbled, running a hand through my hair. "I gotta go. We're probably descending soon. Just... process that for me, okay? And don't tell anyone."

"My lips are sealed, sweetie. Mostly. Call me when you land. And send me a picture of the private jet bathroom!"

I ended the call, shaking my head. Amiah, bless her heart, was handling it exactly as I expected. My gaze drifted to Beyoncé, who was now leaning over Rumi, gently adjusting her seatbelt. Her profile was serene, the iconic features unmistakable even without the stage lights. The transformation from the raw, vulnerable Giselle in the dressing room to the composed, almost regal Beyoncé on the jet was seamless and chilling. She was a master of self-presentation, a fact that both awed and intimidated me.

She looked up then, catching my eye. A small, almost imperceptible smile touched her lips, a private moment shared between us in the midst of her very public life. It was a ghost of the smile she'd given me when I'd said yes, a tiny flicker of Giselle. And in that moment, despite the whirlwind in my head, the terror of the unknown, and the sheer audacity of my situation, I felt a spark of something dangerously close to hope.

The jet began its steady descent, the lights of Las Vegas appearing like scattered jewels in the desert night. Neon pulsed below us, a promise of spectacle and excess. I was flying into the heart of it, with a woman who embodied both. My stomach fluttered, a mix of fear and exhilaration. I had no idea what "Vegas" meant to her, or to us, but I was here. I had said yes. And for now, that was all that mattered.

The jet settled smoothly onto the tarmac, the familiar jolt of landing a stark transition from the floating sensation of flight. Below us, a black SUV, sleek and imposing, waited beside the private terminal. Bodyguards, already positioned, formed a silent, efficient perimeter.

"Alright, kids, almost there," Beyoncé's voice was calm, collected, a stark contrast to the buzzing uncertainty in my own head. She unbuckled Rumi, who immediately scrambled to her feet, full of pre-teen energy. Sir was already being helped by a nanny who had appeared from further back in the cabin. Blue Ivy, ever composed, simply unplugged her headphones and gathered her things.

I watched Beyoncé, her movements graceful as she secured her small carry-on. She glanced at me again, that faint smile returning. "Ready, Y/N?"

Ready for what? For a week of this surreal existence? For navigating the unspoken rules of being in Beyoncé's orbit, with her children, and with him? The "ex." Jay-Z. He was already standing, a quiet presence by the door, speaking in low tones to a security detail. He hadn't acknowledged me directly beyond a polite nod when I first boarded, but his presence was a heavy, undeniable anchor in the room.

We disembarked into the cool desert air, the hum of the jet fading behind us, replaced by the distant thrum of the city. The SUV door opened as if by magic, and we slipped inside, the world outside instantly muted. The kids were surprisingly subdued, perhaps tired from the journey, or simply accustomed to this elaborate ballet of travel.

I found myself squeezed between Rumi and Beyoncé, her arm brushing mine, a subtle, almost possessive warmth. Jay-Z sat opposite, a phone to his ear, his gaze occasionally sweeping over the children, then resting, briefly, on Beyoncé. Never on me. Not directly.

The drive was short, but the landscape rapidly transformed from airport industrial to glittering neon canyons. The sheer scale of Las Vegas was overwhelming, even from the privacy of the tinted windows - a city aggressively demanding attention.

"We'll be at the penthouse suite," Beyoncé said, her voice a low murmur meant only for me, "It's... private. And we have a lot of space."

A lot of space. For a week. Two shows. What was the other five days for? Leisure? Rehearsals? Or was it just... me? Was I the main event of this extended stay? The thought made my stomach flip. It felt less like a romantic getaway and more like a high-stakes, extremely well-funded social experiment.

The car pulled into a discreet, underground garage, bypassing the main hotel entrance entirely. Another team of security met us, guiding us to a private elevator. The ascent was swift, the silence inside the cabin thick with unspoken questions. Mine, mostly.

The penthouse was less a suite and more a sprawling, multi-level residence. Floor-to-ceiling windows offered a breathtaking panorama of the Strip, glittering like a spilled box of jewels. High ceilings, plush carpets, contemporary art - it screamed luxury, but with an unexpected warmth.

"Your room is through here," Beyoncé said, leading me down a short hallway, away from the main living area where the kids were already shedding their travel wear. "It connects to mine, if you need anything."

My breath hitched. Connects to hers? "Oh," I managed, my voice a little reedy. The implication was clear. She wasn't just keeping me close on the jet. This was a continuation, an intensification.

The room was stunning, a king-sized bed facing another wall of windows, a marble bathroom larger than my entire apartment. But the connecting door, seamlessly integrated into the wall, was all I could focus on. It was an open invitation

Jay-Z appeared in the doorway behind Beyoncé, his expression unreadable. He looked from her to me, then to the connecting door, a flicker of something-amusement? confusion? annoyance?-in his eyes.

"Bey," he said, his voice deep, drawing her attention. "I'm going to take the kids to get some food. You want anything?"

Beyoncé turned to him, her face softening imperceptibly. "No Shawn. We'll order room service later." She didn't offer a suggestion for me, no "Y/N, you want anything?" She was already pivoting, her attention divided, yet still firmly grasping the thread that connected us.

As he led the children away, their voices already echoing down the hallway, Beyoncé stepped further into my room, closing the door behind her with a soft click. The sound amplified the sudden intimacy of the space.

"So," she said, her eyes meeting mine, a playful glint now replacing the earlier serenity. "Welcome to Vegas."
