"To the woman brave enough to marry my son...

"In case I am not given the chance to make your acquaintance, and my husband has not welcomed you correctly, and God forbid they passed my title to a no-good folly name that rhymes with regret—I have a clear idea who they'll choose for that—I do apologize."

The sound of clinking glasses stopped instantaneously. Margret's cheeks blotched crimson. Beyoncé fought the urge to cover her mouth, sharing a wide-eyed glance with her own mother, Tina Knowles, seated in the second row.

"Since this letter has seen the light of day, then my son has fulfilled my wish, and I will finish his task from here. Allow me to crown my rightful next in line, as you will be picking up the title Queen Dowager for me."

Ellington paused, looking incredibly pale. He knew a public abdication when he heard one, even a posthumous one.

"Thank you, everyone who has accepted my in-law in my absence, and those who hadn't, just keep your ears open, cause I plan on making this uncomfortable just for you."

A murmur rose, quickly silenced by a sharp glare from Henry.

The letter continued, shifting from political maneuvering to maternal advice, delivered with the same razor-sharp edge:

"My wish to my daughter-in-law is to be unapologetically yourself. In addition to me growing up with two brothers, the future heir, however you both decide to name him, should have two sisters, because his grandma sees it as character development. I wish for two granddaughters to be named after myself and my best friend, Lady Diana of Wales."

Beyoncé's breath hitched. Isabella and Diana.

"I want them to be raised not by nannies, but by their mother. My reasons are addressed elsewhere, personally for you."

Isabella's voice, amplified by Ellington's formal reading, then turned to her detractors, the ultimate revenge served cold:

"For the people who dare to frown upon my daughter-in-law as they did to me, please do have your financial advisors on the line calculating during this read out of my completed will. It would make me the happiest deceased."

A flurry of hushed phone activity broke out among the conservative Danish counts and countesses.

The tone became businesslike, utterly devastating in its clarity.

"My jewels, all from my personal collection, are left to the daughter I hadn't met. My net worth, accrued during my time serving the Danish and Monegasque people, was also left to my Daughter-in-law."

Queen Margret gasped, a sound loud enough to carry. Those jewels were historically tied to the Danish Crown, but Isabella had insisted they remain separate—her personal property, inherited from her Monégasque lineage.

"And assuming that you no longer have a maternal figure, or do, I always wanted to have tea with your mother, gossiping about my son and her daughter, so my estates in Stockholm and the Cotswolds are—you guessed it right—to my daughter-in-law, and if still breathing, the woman that raised her. My thanks to you."

Tina Knowles pressed a hand to her chest, tears welling up, a look of shocked pride washing over her face.

Ellington swallowed hard, sensing the culmination of Isabella's extraordinary plan.

"I can proudly say that I have been exploring building my own castle in Djursland with my own hard-earned money, without the help of Henry or the Crown. It's completely privately owned. I rather you have these possessions, rather than my son; he's a product of the state, so please don't worry, you can pass it onto your children that aren't heirs—that is important."
