The armoured knight paced around intimidatingly with his sword sheathed to his waist as he stared at the Zenith Commander's tent.
The princess has been in there for five hours.
What in the world would a sheltered princess from another Kingdom have to say to such a ruthless devil for so long?
When he first heard of her wishes to go to the camp to meet the rumoured General her Fiancé was mentored by he scoffed, thinking the princess knew nothing of the ruthlessness the man had committed. That it was all but a search to confirm the rumours that the General had white hair. He scoffed, but he was nothing but a knight. His job was to protect her, not question her. So he along with some of her servants travelled two days to reach the main Zenith compound.
When he first entered the Zenith Camp, he was shocked. He was expecting a bunch of savage orphans collected together being beaten and starved. No, what he found was much more terrifying. It was a bunch of full-grown men losing to a single child, and the losers then having to be forced to obey all of said child's commands. The training was terrifying.
The child said Worship me, bow and kiss my feet... The soldiers did as told.
The child said feed me grapes and wave a big leaf to bring me relief from the heat... the soldiers did as told.
All because they lost a round of competition.
It was a trend all around. No one wanted to be a loser. So everyone went out of their way to train all day and all night to succeed in the training regimes. It was such a terrifying training regime that even a special forces armoured knight specifically hand-picked and cultivated to serve the Palace had never wanted to be caught dead in.
My god. No wonder Zenith soldiers are seen as monsters by the Kingdoms.
Then the General Commander Abravel, the White Demon had dared to refuse the very Princess of Targona an audience. He almost started frothing at the mouth.
But the princess still had her head up and came back the next day. The utter humiliation of being refused for a second time was uncanny. Anger boiled through his blood. But the Princess didn't give up, they went back again the next day showing either brazen disregard for her name being trampled upon or strength of character to not back down.
The armoured knight was appalled and utterly shocked by the stubbornness shown by the sweet, gentle princess. She hadn't complained even once at the sight of such uncouth men nor of the inadequate accommodations.
The devil didn't even have a good excuse, he continued to refuse the Princess of Targona without once showing his face. The armoured knight was about to pop a blood vessel from rage if they were to be sent back once more.
And then, on the third day. The day the knight swore would be the last or so help him he would tear down the command tent— The Zenith General allowed an audience. And it was as the rumours suggested, the White Demon looked quite devious.
And then the princess had to go and declare she wanted a private meeting.
Unacceptable!
He almost refused but then paused at her composure. Her eyes, through the veil looked as cold as ice. The princess had never looked as imposing and regal as she did then, it struck him to the core. He quickly remembered his place and left them alone. And he would have stayed stationed directly outside of the entrance if the Zenith soldiers hadn't taken him by the arms and dragged him out into the distance. It drew a clear line between their strengths. And he was told, the General required all men to stay out 100 meters from his tent unless absolutely necessary to report. Otherwise they would be punished. And that order did not excuse even a knight from the palace.
