33. Bartender's secrets

A month had gone by, and if Jungkook was asked, he could definitely confirm it was also the weirdest month of his life.

The members had truly started to warm up to him by now, even if things still felt rather tense under the surface.

He had been spending a lot of time with the members, unaware of how much closer he had gotten, especially with the older members. Namjoon would always talk to him in the mornings. He started surprising Jungkook every time Jungkook ate breakfast by himself; eventually, he got used to it. Then Jin had noticed Namjoons absence from the members' usual breakfast time and joined them for their earlier-than-usual breakfast. Suddenly, Hoseok and Yoongi were there every morning as well. After less than a week of stubborn protest, Jimin and Taehyung did too, and suddenly Jungkook wasn't alone for breakfast.

That wasn't it. Hoseok had begun actively talking to him during his solo dance practices; he would come up to Jungkook, ask if he was doing it right, and what he could improve on. Yoongi had insisted on Jungkook sitting through the rap lines recording sessions so he could give his opinions and monitor progress on the new album. Jimin and Taehyung kept a larger distance, but there were a few instances where Jimin would knock on his door at random hours of the night to get Jungkook to play with them. They had all gotten into a rhythm.

He liked it; it made him feel a lot more at ease, even if it made him nervous. He felt like it would all end, slipping out of his hands. He would just go back to being in his room alone. Thankfully, he had Yugyeom and now Hyungwon.

Jungkook had been spending a lot of time with them when he could. He made sure to plan something with them whenever their schedules lined up. He had even gone to see a movie with Hyungwon yesterday since Hyungwon's manager finally let him have a break. He usually made sure to spray on lots of cologne when he got home. Vampires' noses are sharp, but can easily be messed with. Jungkook did not want Jimin smelling Hyungwon on him.

The only problem he faced was his sister.

She was coming down to Seoul.

She told him that over a month ago, and asked him if they could meet up. At first, he was planning to just ignore the text; she didn't bother checking in after she became a vampire and got super famous. So why text him now?
She ignored the multiple texts he sent her over the years, and he finally gave up, and now she finally says something?

He was pissed at her, he missed her, and it made him infuriated.

Eventually, he did text back.

They planned to meet up, and he knew it would be coming sooner rather than later, and he was terrified. What kind of person was she now, after all these years? Would she even be the same Irene he knew? Couldn't be, she was a vampire.

The nagging anxiety of what's to come had his stomach feeling a little queasy at all times, that and the fact that he hadn't received another threatening text. It should be a good thing, but it made him nervous. What if they got worse than just texting? What if they started calling? Or stalking? He kept his eyes open and aware as much as he could, even if he sacrificed sleep.

"Jungkook ah- could you hand me three eggs?" Jungkook snapped out of his thought trance, blinking repeatedly, and he turned to Jin, looking silly as ever, causing him to form a small, lazy smile. Jin was wearing a baby pink apron, holding a giant bowl of powdered ingredients.

"Yeah, Hyung," Jungkook nodded, pushing himself off the counter, opening the fridge to pull out the egg carton. "You said three, right?" He looked up at Jin, who smiled warmly at Jungkook, making his heart flutter. Jin had always been his favorite.

"He said three," Yoongi interrupted before Jin could speak from the other side of the kitchen, setting up the coffee maker, placing a pod of dark roast in the small spot.
