~~~PREET's POV~~~
"Tell him to stay away," Asmaara groaned and I laughed at her annoyed face, "yeah, this is exactly how he was laughing!"
"It's been days now, come on!" I said, grinning and briefly glanced at Shehry, who sat on the same couch as me.
"Yeah but, he needs to understand when someone does something for you, you are supposed to appreciate it," she huffed, kneading, the dough, "waise bhi, I don't know what's up with mama. This new aap-aap thing."
"Then don't do it," I shrugged and she looked me. Her hair fell out of her clip so she pushed them away with the back of her hand, leaving a flour stain on her forehead.
"And the other option is cooking but, I love him too much to cook for him," she sighed. I couldn't help but snicker and she shot me a glare.
"Acha, clean your forehead first. There is flour everywhere," I told her. Shehry instantly scooted closer to me to have a look and I struggled to push him away, keeping a smile on.
"All thanks to this new weird cooking teacher," her voice grabbed my attention again, "she wants me to cook whatever I know. I just hope she doesn't die after eating this."
"Make biriyaani then," I suggested and she shook her head. "That's our thing. I am not making that without you."
I chuckled, remembering the good old days, and then asked what she was making. She smiled and showed me the ingredients.
"Arey Wah! Jisse gussa hai, usi ki favourite dish!" I smirked at her and then looked at Shehry, "aloo ke paranthe!"
"So, I am just temporary angry! Ek do baar aur call karega toh utha loongi," she shrugged and Shehry instantly snatched my laptop.
"Toh abhi kar Lo. How long are you going to avoid my calls for, come on!" He pouted at the screen. Asmaara gasped before the screen went blank.
He looked up at me with a frown plastered on his forehead and I face palmed myself.
~~~ASMAARA's POV~~~

He was there all the time! He must have heard me ranting and seen me looking like a ghost. Preet, you are such a traitor!

I was lost deep in my thoughts when I heard baba calling me. Quickly washing my hands, I took off the apron and went outside. He stared at me for a few seconds and I rolled my eyes. Yeah, go on, laugh.

Instead, he turned to the file kept in front of him. I went over and sat down beside him.

"I need you to go to New York for me and submit this file," he spoke, "I wanted to go myself but, I can't leave your mother alone here. She is a careless woman and I know she won't look after herself."

I silently nodded at him with a smile. Ageing is taking a toll on his work. In a good way. Now that he is slowing down, he is starting to care more about what really matters. I wish he would have changed a few years ago. I would have loved to spend some time with my father; This family man side of his'.

"And what's cooking?" He asked all of a sudden and I gulped. "I was trying paranthas but, I guess it's not going that well."

"Practice makes man perfect," he winked at me with a smile, "keep trying!"

I flashed him a smile and went back inside the kitchen. Ek na ek din toh aa hi jayeinge banane.
