Maya comes back to the table, an unreadable expression on her face. "Maya, what happened." I ask her when she sits down. "My father. He cheated on his wife with my mom. He said he changed, and he now lives in Florida. And... I have three older half siblings."
"What? So he just wanted to catch up after ten years?"
"No... he wants me to spend the weekend with him."
"Okay. Like at his hotel?"
"No... in Florida."
"Maya I would love to have you spend time with your dad, but we don't have the money to send you to Florida right now." Topanga says joining the conversation.
"He says he will pay for the tickets. I don't know if I should go."
"Do you want to go?" Riley asks. Maya doesn't answer though, and we leave to the Matthews apartment.
"Maya your going to love your new room! I'm SO jealous!" The ever so perky Riley says, bouncing out of the car. Maya smiles, and says "I can't wait!" We walk up to the apartment, and step inside. Riley guides Maya to her new room, then stops at the door.
"Okay. Close your eyes." Riley instructs. I come behind Maya, and gently cover her eyes with my hand. Riley opens the door, and I carefully guide Maya inside. "Open your eyes!" Riley says, a humongous smile on her face.
Maya slowly opens her eyes, and takes a good look. "Wow! I love it! It's so beautiful! Thank you so much!" She exclaims, giving everyone a huge hug.
We hang out for a while, then leave. I go to bed tiredly, it was a long day even though I didn't do much. I slowly drift off to sleep, blank thoughts in my mind.
