Chapter 6;
Detention.
That was the thing I wasn't looking forward to. What a great first impression, right? My teacher hates me, and everyone in there thinks I'm a freak. Wonderful.
I slowly trudged down the hall to the detention room, and stopped at the door. I took a deep breath in, and pushed the door open. I felt a pair of eyes on me as I walked in. I looked around and nobody was in here except for Layne. I made it to my seat, crossed my arms, and huffed. Layne looked over at me and smirked.
"What do you want from me?" He asked in a dark voice.
"Nothing,"
He laughed slightly. "You're lying,"
I looked at him in disgust. "What do you think I want?"
He smiled and looked forward. He didn't say another word to me. I sighed and took this opportunity to get some of my work done. I pulled out my books and began taking notes for history. I did this for about thirty minutes before the silence started to get to me. I glanced over at Layne, and he had his head down.
"Layne, I'm sorry,"
"Don't call me that..." he hissed.
"Lucifer," I corrected. "I'm sorry for getting you into detention,"
"You didn't get me into detention. I did that myself. But what you did cause was an unnecessary fight,"
"Sorry,"
"I'm sure you are,"
"Okay,"
He picked his head up, and peered over at me. His eyes were normal, and he just looked beautiful. Beautiful? Really? Did I just say that? I'm stupid. Layne must've sensed me feeling that way because he looked away from me and put his head back down on the desk.
"What do you want from me?" He repeated.
"Nothing!"
"You must have some reason to keep on sneaking into my backyard, and for trying to talk to me in school,"
I gulped. I did like him, and I barely knew him. "Just drop it, k?"
I was suddenly against the wall with Layne holding my wrists above my head. I was shocked and didn't move much. I didn't know what he was doing or why he was implying. He brought his mouth to my ear, and nibbled on my earlobe gently.
"W-wha..." I stuttered.
He looked at me and his eyes were slits. "You don't have to talk... Are you scared?"
I shook my head and his laughter rang through the room. "You should be,"
I pushed him off me, and brushed off myself. His hands were by his side, and his eyes looked deadly again.
"Look. If you're going to threaten to bite me, at least have the balls to do it,"
"Princess, if I did that, you'd be dead,"
I sat back down in my seat, and continued doing my work. I felt Layne over my shoulder, and it was bugging the shit out of me. I turned my head, and his eyes were gentle for once. His plaitnum blonde hair fell in his eyes, and he just looked adorable.
"What do you want?" I asked.
"You," He breathed in my ear.
Me? What does he want with me?
"Cut the crap and go over to your seat,"
"Don't tell me what to do, princess. Remember who the vampire is," He threatened.
I gritted my teeth together and balled my fists up. He is not going to use this vampire shit against me. I am just as strong as him... He pulled my hair back from my neck, and leaned his face in towards my throat. He breathed in heavily, and let out a sweet breath. I gulped.
"You smell nice, Cadence. I bet you taste nice too..."
I smacked his face, and he seemed dumbfounded. My hand hurt, and was beating red, but he didn't seem phased by it. I wasted my energy for nothing. He went back to his seat, and laid his head in his arms. I groaned and slammed my book shut. I jumped from my chair, and placed my hands on my hips.
"Layne-" he hissed at the name, but I didn't care. "Stop being such an asshole to me. Ever since I got here, you have been threatening to kill me and I've had enough of it. You and I both know that you won't kill me because you like me-" he cut me off.
"Like you?! Do you honestly think I'm going to fall for such a measly human?"
"Sure as hell seems like it,"
"Don't get your hopes up, princess,"
"All I want are friends! All I want is to move back to where I was.. To where I was actually happy and didn't have to worry about vampires-"
"Vampires are the least of your worries," he sniffed.
"Are you saying there's more paranormal things out there?"
"You brought it upon yourself, sweet cheeks,"
"Stop with the pet names! It's annoying.. Like you!"
He laughed. "K,"
"K,"
God, I hate him.
Lies.
I like him...
