Chapter 23;
I sat in Laynes bed, shocked. I couldn't believe what I heard. It seemed so unreal to me.. I looked at him with a blank look on my face, and he began to worry. His face became sad, and pained. I couldn't say or do anything...
"Please... Say something, Cadence..." he voice pleaded.
"I..." I couldn't get the words out. I don't know why I was in so much shock right now.
He grabbed ahold of my hands and shook them. "Why is this so much to take in?! You're worrying me..."
"Layne, I..."
"Cadence," he pinched the bridge of his nose, and closed his eyes. "I know you feel the same, but I have to hear you say it..."
I was at a loss for words. "I.. Layne.. I.. I didn't know you felt the same way... I mean, we're not even dating.."
"That's the thing. I want to date you. I've felt this way for a long ass time, and didn't have the balls to say it. I didn't want to bring you into this mess by dating you, but my feelings grow stronger each day. I couldn't stop thinking about you when I didn't talk to you. I was upset and hurt..." he opened his eyes and they were soft and looked like he was going to cry but he didn't.
"Layne, I'm not going to hurt you. Ever again. I do love you, but I need to know if you're willing to make this work... You have to let me in on everything that goes on..."
His head fell to his chest. "But it's not safe for you..."
I grabbed his chin lightly, and lifted his head to where our eyes met. His looked pained, and worried. I felt kinda bad for him.
"Layne, I'm serious. I worry for you too, and it sucks finding out last minute that you've gone out to kill demons or some crap like that. It worries me that you might not make it back,"
His eyes lightened with laughter. "You really think I would get killed by demons?" he chuckled lightly.
"You almost did..."
He lost his smile and his face was serious again. "Whatever," he mumbled.
I sighed. I started getting up and headed towards the door. Layne grabbed my hand, and tried to pull me back down. I yanked it from him.
"If you're not going to take this seriously, I will just go," I huffed.
"I'm sorry, okay? I don't know how to cope with these feelings because I have never felt them before... Just please work with me,"
"You're not taking me seriously. Why should I?"
He looked down and pursed his lips. "Because I love you," he mumbled.
"Bye Layne,"
I grabbed the door knob, twisted it open, and almost made it out the door before Layne grabbed my other hand, and pushed me up against the door so it closed. He pinned my hands above my head, kissing my neck all over.
He had his body pushed up against mine, and he was trying to feel every inch of me possible with his body. He lifted the hem of my shirt up and the feeling of his hands roaming my stomach tingled with delight. He let go of my hands, and started feeling me up.
I kissed him violently, seductively, passionately. I kissed him like I have never never kissed him before. Our tongues fought a vigorous war with each other, neither one wanting to give up. He bit my lip gently, tugging on it, and smiling at me with those beautiful white teeth of his. His smile reached his eyes and I swear in that moment, Layne had actually really smiled for the first time in his life.
I started moving us towards the bed, undressing him in the process. First to go was his shirt; revealing his pale chest. My shirt fell to ground along with his. Next to go was his pants. I took those off as quick as I could. He was wearing boxers, and he just looked beautiful. I've never seen him like this. But he has never seen me like this either.
We were completely undressed except for my bra and panties, and his boxers. We decided to leave those on. We didn't want to go too far.
Layne cupped my breasts and squeezed them lightly. He was giving me gentle kisses in between the neck kisses and collar bone kisses. He slid his hands down my stomach, and over my panties. Lightly rubbing. I didn't want to go any farther than that. He laid me on the bed, getting on top of me. His hair was beautiful, and it tickled my forehead. I giggled, and he smirked.
"You're so beautiful," he whispered in my ear, grazing my earlobe with his teeth.
I shivered. "You're amazing,"
"I know," he said, kissing my cheekbone.
I twisted him over so I was on top this time. He looked at me with sincere eye, and to me, he didn't look like a vampire. He looked like an ordinary human.
"Layne, I love you," I cuddled him and played with his hair.
He smiled. "I love you too,"

I awoke to the sound of rain and thunder. It was coming down hard, splattering against the window like rocks. It was dark and windy out, and I shivered. I looked around, and found that I was alone. I was still in my bra and panties, so I know last night was real. I got up, put my clothes back on, and headed downstairs.
I could hear the sound of voices coming from the living room as I descended the stairs. Everyone turned to look at me, and I blushed. I feel like they could tell what Layne and I did last night. It was embarrassing. I made my way to the couch, and sat down next to the most handsome guy I have ever laid eyes on.
Layne smiled at me as he laced his hand with mine. The soft touch of his hand made me feel safe and secure. To me, Layne didn't seem like that badass vampire anymore. He seemed innocent, hurt, and lost. He seemed almost human.
Labiba glared at our hands as they were talking. "So have you figured out what you're gonna do about those damn demons outside your house yet?" she asked.
Layne shook his head. "No. I don't know if we can take them anymore. They are too many. They're multiplying by the dozen. They won't leave without getting what they want," He squeezed my hand.
"Then give them what they want," Labiba growled.
"Are you out of your fucking mind?"
"I can't hunt without getting killed anymore. I won't live much longer if I don't feed!"
"Maybe you need to die then," Layne muttered.
"What the hell did you just say?" Labiba hissed, standing up.
Juliet watched in horror, and she stood in between Labiba and Layne.
"Stop! We will figure out a way!" Juliet yelled.
"Ghosts don't tell me what to do," Labiba huffed, flipping her hair behind her back.
Juliet glared at her. "Do you want to end up like Austin did?" she threatened.
Labiba just laughed, sitting down, crossing her legs. Layne rolled his eyes, which were slits. I didn't know what we were gonna do about the demons, but we needed to figure out something, and we need to do it fast.
