Authors Note; sorry that I haven't updated in a while. I've been extremely busy with marching band camp, and the fact that my grandparents are up. I also want to thank you guys for sticking with me this entire time and if it wasn't for you all, I probably wouldn't even have continued this story. Don't worry. This isn't the end. Not even close. But if you guys have ideas for future chapters, than message me!

Chapter 16;

"Good morning," Adrian quietly said. He scared the living hell out of me. I don't even hear him come in.

I sat up quickly, and saw Adrian with a soft smile on his face. I raised my eyebrow at him. "What are you doing in my room?"

Adrian sat down on my bed, close to where my legs laid. "Are you feeling alright?"

"Yeah, why?"

Adrian pursed his lips, and started leaning in towards me. He got close to my ear and whispered, "I have something to tell you,"

"Yes?"

He moved his lips close to mine, and I could feel my breathing pick up. His lips were an inch or two away from mine, with his forehead pressed against mine. He smiled, and it seemed like he was blushing.

"I... I really like you, Cadence," he murmured, laughing at himself.

"You do...?"

"Yes. I like you to the point where..." He started moving his hand up my body, but then out of no where, I felt a sharp pain in my chest. It felt like my heart was constricting, and being ripped out. I looked down, seeing Adrians hand inside me. I looked back up to his face, and he still had that gentle smile plastered on his face. "I want your heart to be mine," then he ripped my heart out, slowly watching me die.

-

I woke up with a gasp, having sweat pour down my forehead. I looked all around, and saw no sign of anyone in my room. I looked at my chest, feeling around to make sure I was intact. I sighed, pulling the covers off my body, and swinging my legs to the side.

It was only a dream.

I slowly went for the door, and made sure I was quiet. The door creaked a little as I was opening it. I gently shut it behind me as I made my way down the long hallway. I heard talking from the top of the staircase, but I couldn't make out the words. I crept down the stairs, ran to the kitchen door, and leaned my ear close against it.

"Are you sure he's dead?" I could tell that was Juliet's voice.

"Yes. Adrian and Labiba saw me kill him," Layne answered.

"How did you kill him?"

"Clark and I ripped him, limb by limb. I enjoyed it, actually,"

I backed away from the door, disgusted by what I was hearing. No wonder Layne was out so late, and why he was covered in black blood. I don't know why he wouldn't tell me this from the start. I don't like the fact that he's keeping secrets from me. He could've died out there and I wouldn't have known.

I soon heard footsteps coming towards the door, and I quickly sprinted towards the couch. I made it just in time to see Adrian, Juliet, Labiba, and Layne come out. Juliet smiled at me when she saw me. She sat down next to me, putting her arm around my shoulders. Adrian grinned and waved at me, but I ignored it and shuttered. Adrian lost the smile on his face, and sat down next to Juliet's left side.

Layne looked stressed and tired. It looked like he has been up all night. His hair looked messy and scruffy but it still looked perfect. He had on the same clothes as the night before too. His face was hard looking, but pale as usual. His piercing green eyes were slits as well. He made his way over to Labiba and sat down next to her.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Yup," he answered.

"Are you sure?"

He glared at me. "Stop asking idiotic questions. I'm not in the mood for you, or anyone else,"

I didn't say no more. This wasn't like him. He wouldn't just snap at me like that. Layne sighed, and covered his mouth with his hand. Everyone was silent for a while. It was an awkward silence, until finally, Layne stood up.

"I gotta go. I'll be back... Whenever,"

Then he left. I looked at Labiba in confusion, hoping she would have an answer. She just smiled and crossed her legs.

"Don't take it too personal, sweetie," She chuckled. "Layne is just being Layne,"

"What do you mean..."

"Layne hasn't fed in forever, so of course hes gonna be a stuck up little bitch,"

"When do you think he will be back?"

"I don't keep track of what he does. Layne does whatever he wants. Just don't stand in his way,"

I nodded, and kept quiet for the rest of the time. Juliet and Adrian started talking about their times with the demon slavery, and how they escaped. It was quite interesting, but also horrifying at the same time. They also told us about how vampires and ghosts became allies, along with the werewolves. The only people who were sided with the demons were the witches.

Witches made a pact with the demons to keep their land, and fortunes as long as they fought along side with them whenever needed. This pact still holds up today. But Adrian knew this one witch who helped the ghosts escape from their slavery, and hasn't been caught. She lives somewhere hidden, but Adrian said we could visit her sometime.

"You really think she's still going to be sided with you?" Labiba scoffed. "Witches can't be trusted,"

"She's perfectly fine. She's not like most witches," Adrian reassured her

"Whatever you say,"

Adrian ignored her and turned his attention towards me. "When do you want to go and meet her?" he asked.

"I don't care," just please stop talking to me. I didn't want the nightmare to be true. Adrian's face saddened, and he stared at the floor.

"Somethings wrong, isn't there?"

I shook my head.

"Cadence,"

"Yes?"

"Don't lie to me. I can sense when you lie,"

"Okay, maybe something is but I'm not telling you, so drop it," I snapped.

I didn't mean to. I felt so bad now. Adrian is so nice, and he doesn't know about my dream. He didn't do anything wrong.

"I'm going to bed," Juliet stood up, grabbing Adrian's hand. "Goodnight, everyone," she waved at us, and went upstairs with Adrian.

I looked at the time again, and realized its been 4 hours. It's 12am and Layne still isn't back. I began to worry. I turned my attention towards Labiba again, and she shook her head.

"He's fine, Cadence. He will come back when he feels the need to,"

I gulped, and nodded.

-

I was laying in my bed, staring at the ceiling. I couldn't fall back asleep. Mainly because I already slept, and partly because I was worried about Layne. I hope he was alright. It was getting closer and closer to demon hour the more he spent out there.

I turned to my side, seeing Layne with his head up on his hand, body facing towards me. I started screaming but he had his hand over my mouth the second I opened my mouth. I stared at his eyes and they were slits anymore. He didn't look as tired, and his face was softer. He smirked at me as he took his hand from my mouth.

"What's wrong? Cat got your tongue?" He commented.

"Where were you?!"

"Why does it matter? I'm here now,"

"It matters because you could've gotten killed,"

Layne laughed gently. "Killed by who? It's not demon hour yet, and no one would've seen me,"

"Vampire hunters,"

Laynes eyes became wide before he went into a laughing fit. What he doesn't know was that I was serious. When he was done, he leaned over me slightly, and moved the hair from my eyes, back. He sighed, and his breath gave me chills.

"You were serious?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes, when am I not?"

Layne pursed his lips, and shook his head. "Sorry about earlier. I didn't mean it. I was being a jerk,"

"At least you admit it,"

Layne half smiled, showing his perfect white teeth. "God... Why're you so beautiful?" he leaned over me some more, having both of his arms on the outside of my body.

"What...?" I asked, dumbfounded. Layne thinks I'm beautiful?

He chuckled. "How did someone create something so beautiful?"

"You can thank my mother,"

"I'll be sure to," he looked over at the window, and the door. "The door is locked, right?"

I nodded slowly, confused.

"Good. Gives me time to try something..."

Layne pressed his lips against mine so lightly, and gently, that it felt like I was kissing air. His lips were soft, and urgent too. His kisses became more aggressive with each and Everytime we kissed. His tongue soon found its way into my mouth, fighting against mine for dominance. Layne moved his hand up into my hair, and the other on the side of my face. He lifted my head up so he could get a better angle, and I soon felt him bite my lip. It kinda hurt, but it felt amazing. I wanted more of him.

He stopped kissing me, and was on the other side of the room in an instant. His eyes were slits again, not knowing why, and he covered his mouth. I yearned for his touch. I started getting out of the bed, but he was already gone.
