Chapter 9;

"Layne... What are you doing?!" I cried out in fear as I was backing away from the terrifying vampire.

He didn't seem to stop his pace coming towards me. His appearance was scary, he was hungry, and he wasn't going to stop. I already had blood coming down the side of my head from when he threw me on the floor.

I backed into a corner, and covered my face. Layne knelt down beside me and rubbed my hair. I flinched and shook under his touch. He grunted, and bared his fangs at me. He leaned into towards me, getting really close to my neck. He moved my arms away from my face, and tilted my head to the side. He placed two fingers on the side of my throat, where my pulse ran fast and hot.

"Please... Don't..." I pleaded, but he shushed me.

"What did I tell you?" he licked my neck. "I'm evil,"

"Layne..."

He hissed at his name and then i felt a sharp pain on my skin. I soon fell into total darkness.

-

I woke up screaming that night. I was in a cold sweat, and I searched all around the room to make sure I was still in the same place I crashed at. Thank god it was only a dream.. It all felt so real though. I couldn't wrap my head around it and I couldn't sleep after that.

Layne came bursting into my room with wide eyes. His hair was messy, his eyes were still that piercing ice green, and his features looked soft. He had on a white t-shirt, and dark pants. He didn't look scary at all. He didn't look like he could hurt anything...

"Why the hell are you screaming? Do you know what time it is?" he asked, closing the door behind him.

"I had a bad dream... Now get out so I can go back to sleep,"

"It's 5 in the morning, and I thought some demons got ahold of you! Don't fucking do that again, okay?"

"Why're you so concerned?"

He stopped what he was doing, and pursed his lips. He turned towards me, with a cold look in his eyes.

"I don't want demons in my damn house. Then again, they wouldn't come into a vampires house but you never know. They want you, and I'm trying to protect you,"

"Why?"

He sighed, and gritted his teeth. He started heading towards the door, and started exiting the room. "Just don't scream like that again, alright?" then he closed the door behind him.

-

I exited out the backdoor of Laynes house, trying to sneak my way over to my parents. It was early in the morning, and I would assume he was asleep. I quietly closed the door, and started running towards the fence. I climbed over it, ran into my house, and was greeted by angry parents.

They stood there side by side, crossing their arms at me. My mom was tapping her foot, expecting an answer out of me as soon as possible.

"Where we're you, young lady?" my dad asked.

"At a friends," I answered. It wasn't a total lie.

"You didn't even think to tell us? We were worried sick about you, Cadence!"

"Don't worry. I'm fine,"

"Who was your friend?" my mom butted in. I glared at her.

"The next door neighbor,"

"The crazy looking butlers house?! I didn't know he had a daughter too.."

"No, mom. I stayed with Layne..."

My dads eyes grew furious and he slammed his hand on the island. My mom covered her mouth in shock. Was why this a big deal...

"You're too young for that!" my dad yelled, clenching his fists.

"Dad! No! We didn't have sex! We were talking because he invited me over for dinner and I crashed. Nothing big!"

"Nothing big? Cadence, you're not old enough to sleepover with boys!"

"I'm 17!"

"Exactly. You're grounded. Go to your room. Now,"

I grunted and started running up the stairs. As soon as I was in my room, I pulled out my phone, and saw that I had three missed messages. I sighed, and plopped on my bed. 2 of the messages were from my parents, and one was from... Austin. I sat up, and opened the message.

'I miss you.' it said.

'I miss you too.' I replied.

No even minutes after sending it, I got a reply back.

'Can we meet tonight?'

I hesitated. 'Where at?'

'At Harrison Park. If that's okay with you.'

'I'll meet you.'

'See you later beautiful.'

I would have to sneak out. My parents would kill me if they found out I was sneaking out again after just coming back. I would wait until they went to bed.
