4th Year of the New Age, Wednesday, 1st Week, 10th Month of The Father.

The next day, a series of breaking news reports across Xinhua, shaking the nation from its morning calm.

Every channel, every screen, and every radio station carried the same headline: THE FALL AND RETAKING OF HEIHE CITY.

[XINHUA NATIONAL BROADCAST - CHANNEL 1]

The screen first shows smoke blanketing the horizon of what used to be Heihe City. Many viewers could see the flames were still burning from collapsed buildings, and the camera panned across soldiers trudging through the rubble, carrying civilians wrapped in soot-stained blankets and medics shouting for stretchers.

"This... this is Heihe City," the reporter said through her respirator. "It was once one of our most advanced military-industrial hubs but was now in ruin. Yesterday's surprise attack by Immorgenarian forces has left hundreds of thousands dead or wounded. The Xinhua Armed Forces, alongside unidentified foreign mechanized units, believed to be the Austronesian Peacemakers, have retaken control of the city after a brutal five-hour battle."

The camera zoomed in on rows of beastmen corpses lying across the street with their armor cracked open and smoking. Company of soldiers in Xinhuan military uniforms walked past them cautiously among the debris, with rifles at the ready and scanned for any remaining hostiles.

"The Ministry of Defense confirmed that the attack originated from the Immorgenaria Empire," the reporter continued, "However, a shocking twist has been reported from early intelligence that links the entire incident may have been triggered by a Japanese delegation operating under false diplomatic credentials..."

The background erupted with the noise of frantic voices from the reporters as they were crowding for answers, before the feed transitioned abruptly to a packed government hall in Beijing.

[STATE PRESS CONFERENCE - BEIJING, 09:00 HOURS]

Rows of officials sat stiffly behind a long oak table with the national emblem gleaming above them. Cameras clicked nonstop as the spokesperson leaned toward the microphone.

"We have confirmed, based on evidence provided by Commander Li Si," he began, "that the Immorgenarian Empire initiated hostilities following the death of General Scar and the crippling of Prince Simba. Both incidents are directly tied to a Japanese covert unit."

A storm of voices exploded instantly as journalists shouted in Mandarin, English, Filipino, and half a dozen other languages, waving their hands and notes.

"Are you saying Japan provoked the Immorgenarians?"

"Is this the beginning of another war?"

"What role did the Austronesians play? Are they occupying Heihe?"
