Third Civilization Zone, Austronesia People's Empire, Imperial Mahalika, Manila.
4th Year of the New Age, Wednesday, 2nd Week, 10th Month of the Father
Two figures walked side by side in the darkness.
Their long white robes, cut loosely like Japanese kimonos, flowed around their legs as they took steady steps with every step they took forward, while their fabric caught what little moonlight there was, making their movements seem almost weightless.
Their hands were hidden in long sleeves, but if they had been exposed, their skin would have been as pale as moonlit snow, matching the enchanting faces and the soft curves of their enticing necks.
Both had white hair, though one wore hers long and flowing while the other kept hers short and feathered, flowed seamlessly as they approached their destination.
The walls of the Austronesian Capital.
"It seems this is the place..." one of the girls spoke up as her purple eyes scanned across the fortifications with a calm analyzing sight.
"Really? It looks way different from what we were told," the other gave a more quizzical expression. She was the one with much shorter hair, and unlike the more composed behavior of her colleague, she was a bit louder.
"Shouldn't it be more run down than this?" she said with a frown and tilted her head.
The long-haired lady said nothing. She simply narrowed her eyes, staring up at the towering walls and the disciplined patrols lining them before scowling a little.
It wasn't as though she wasn't also confused about the state of the place they were visiting, but she could not deny that this was the Capital.
'Our Master wouldn't lie to us. The coordinates of the teleportation magic brought us exactly here... so why are the walls of these humans so massive? Why so much security?'
She had visited plenty of human villages and settlements before, but they are dull ugly things thrown together with barely any sense of structure or beauty.
More than once she found goblin nests to be more organized. It was unthinkable that humans, of all races, were capable of building something this... imposing.
In the end, she finally settled on a simple conclusion that the humans must have poured all their effort into the exterior defenses, while the inside would be the same primitive mess as always.
They would see the truth soon enough.
"Let us proceed," she said.
"Okay."
The two girls walked past by hundreds of security personnel stationed along the walls, disciplined men armed with strange weapons similar to the magic weapons the Mysthiac Theocracy used, along with multiple giant mechanized weapons that looked capable of erasing armies stationed on the walls.
But none of the guards reacted and not a single head turned in their direction, nothing to show that they actually saw them.
Even the security force's advanced sensor arrays designed to detect mana signatures, shapeshifters, and infiltrators, walked right by them without so much as a twitch.
The white-clad maidens easily proceeded into the heart of humanity's strongest stronghold with barely any effort or resistance at all.
"E-eh...?"
"What in the world...?"
Unlike the calm demeanor they maintained when they were proceeding into the Capital, the moment they crossed fully into the city, both girls froze in place and their looks switched from curiosity to outright shock.
