Second Civilization Zone, Northeastern Continent, Land of the Fairy, Fairy Community.
4th Year of the New Age, Friday, 2nd Week, 10th Month of the Father.
It is the next day, and the morning sun shone its brilliant rays across the colorful and lush lands of the Fairy Community. Silence usually greeted the dawn here with a gentle and almost ritualistic stillness that the Fairies had followed for generations.
On this particular day, however, such peaceful decorum was not observed.
Several footsteps can be heard through the pathways of the community, along with the small rustling of wings. All of the hundreds of thousands of Fairies within the community had gathered and were flying behind a certain human male.
They hovered above and around him in loose formation, keeping a respectful distance as he walked behind the Esteemed Elders, who were nervously guiding him somewhere.
A look of reverence and admiration were too bright and obvious on their glowing faces as the procession continued in full swing. Murmurs danced across the ears of the several Fairies as they leaked out hushed voices speaking of the same man at their center.
They knew exactly who he was, and exactly where he was being escorted.
Simon Riley was no mere human, so none of them shot him a look of contempt. The Fairies had learned that the hard way, the very first moment they laid eyes on him, and they would not repeat that fatal mistake.
No more.
Now their eyes were open. Now they could see him for the amazing being that he was.
‘This went easier than I expected…’ Riley, being the center of all this attention, thought to himself as he kept his eyes forward and maintained his steady steps despite the pressure of a thousand stares.
‘Controlling the Esteemed Elders is one thing, but everyone else? Do I really smell that good to these people?’
Earlier that day, the Elders had announced his status to the entire community, declaring him someone under the blessing and instruction of the Goddess of Nature herself.
And when Riley released his scent and mana-traced presence across the community, it sealed the deal and he was able to display his authority over them.
Not only that, they were even informed that he was sent by the Goddess of Nature herself.
They don’t know why their Goddess didn’t inform them sooner, but whatever it was, none of the Fairies questioned the Mother of Nature herself.
‘They all practically worship me at this point,’ he thought, letting out a small private laugh as he caught the shameless looks of adoration aimed his way and received from all angles.
Well, almost everyone. Woods was off to the side and attempted (and failing miserably) to flirt with a pair of Elder Fairies. Riley couldn’t help but smile and shook his head before turning his eyes ahead toward the direction of the Shrine, the one place that might actually hold real answers.
While he still felt somewhat guilty for using such a method of controlling an entire population, he didn't think much of it. He was very desperate, and he would do whatever it took to achieve his goals. Nothing more and nothing less.
‘I’ll just get this over with as soon as I can.’
“Mara, you will deal with them with the politics,” he said to the elf.
“Of course, Sir Riley,” Mara bowed politely, and he gave her a small shrug in acknowledgment.
Turning back to the Esteemed Elders, Riley’s voice sharpened as he spoke out.
