Legacy Miller on top.

                                              Am I Not Enough?

"Wow, you're an ass." Raven mused. His dark cocoa brown eyes slightly narrowed in displeasure as they gazed at the beta.

"You don't understand", Caleb grumbled.

"What's there to understand?" Raising his brow, the gamma wolf questioned.

"I just... he's ..." the beta muttered, "he is a human.... and fragile"

Zander couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculous comment. "Well, nobody who can see your Bambi says he's gonna KO someone twice his size"

Kat snickered beside them, muttering a 'true'.

"Shut up! That's not what I'm saying" Caleb snapped, clearly fed up with his friend.

Sighing, Raven walked up to him. "Then what are you trying to say?"

"I got scared, okay. What if something happens to him?"

"Nothing go- "

Caleb interrupted the delta. "You don't know. He is at the centre of all of this, okay? You think I don't know what they're trying to do? Everyone is taking advantage of him. Just because I'm his mate," he spat. Nobody said a word. They knew it was true. Even though the boy demanded a fee for his services, he has yet to ask for his payment. Now Zander doesn't know if the boy was just pulling their legs or not.

"Everyone just using him, and.... and he is.... He doesn't sleep. He couldn't sleep. It always nightmares.... I don't know what to do. I know he says he's okay... but, Goddess! I'm his mate, I want to help him... but... I feel-" taking a shaking breath, he slumped on the chair. I feel useless.

"That doesn't mean you should run away from him." Patting the beta's back, Raven said.

Nodding his head, Zander quipped in. "You should be with Bambi."

"My fam- "

Raven interrupted him. "You're his mate.... You should be the one to stay beside him"

"Especially when you left him like a one-night stand", Zander snickered at Kat's bluntness.

"What th- I didn't lea- "

"Yeah, yeah. But does he know?" The delta waved him off.

Rubbing his chin, Zander gave a hum. "Well, I've to agree with our delta there."

Sighing, Caleb looked at his friends. Maybe he just has to talk with Elrid. And be celibate for the rest his life so he won't lose his control and break his mate's fragile body. Yeah, it's the only possibility.

"Update us, ok?" Ignoring his expectant friends, he walked out of the room. Should I buy something? Callum said they were discharged.... Maybe I can just walk in there, beg on my knees, call myself an idiot and say sorry. Ok, it's a plan!

**

When Caleb opened the door to his room, Elrid was sitting at the centre of his room's floor in a meditating posture. Some type of incense.... chamomile, maybe burned beside him, along with a candle.

The beta couldn't help but watch his mate for a minute. Bambi looked... ethereal, with faint smoke from incense surrounding him and the light golden glow of candle making his pale skin shimmer like gold. It reminded him of those winged women in Zander's painting. He wanted to grab his mate and lock him up so nobody can see his mate like how he sees his Bambi. That's... disturbing. Caleb couldn't help but grimace at his internal thoughts.
