Caleb Murphy on top.

In my excitement to give a tragic backstory for Legacy, I forgot the fact that the killer was only supposed to kill wolves. Bruh! The way I panicked. Then I thought I would gaslight it like I would do with my sisters. But no! My dumbass actually wrote that Legacy can change into his wolf in Eli's vision. Kill me now!

And I'm not sure if you guys are reading this or not. Because nobody noticed it. The only thing I can do is make counter measurements. And this chapter is the countermeasure.

                                                      We've got a problem!

"Holyshit! We've got a problem!!!" That's the first thing his mate said when he opened his eyes after the jump scare he gave him.

"Caleb, we've got a-"

Ignoring the boy's complaint, Caleb pulled the boy to his chest. The imaginary weight on his shoulders left as a relaxed breath escaped his lips when he found the boy was okay and alive. Ares grumbled inside him, urging him to tie their mate to him so the boy won't run away to cause another problem and another jump scare. Maybe they should. he really should contemplate after this stunt.

"Caleb! we g-"

"shh." Pushing Elrid's face to his chest, Caleb lay on the bed.

Bambi must have sensed his emotions, because soon his wiggling ceased. Instead, he snuggled against him, his limbs thrown over his body.

After all the panic he felt when he heard about Bambi's fainting, he really did need a minute of peace. Without any of the serial killer hustle and buzz. For him and his wolf, too. They need to bask in their mate's scent, knowing he was unharmed and alive.

They were wrapping up their meeting with Baker Valley pack when Gale linked him, on the verge of a meltdown, saying his mate collapsed in the middle of a café.

Caleb knew what was happening to his mate. That doesn't mean he wasn't scared. Especially considering they were on unfamiliar land. It doesn't matter that they were the same species. Everyone was selfish. Always looking for each other's weaknesses.

So he ran.

When he reached the café, Gale said, Elrid was lying on the sofa at the end of the shelf. One or two staff members, along with Gale, were with him. It wasn't the first time -and won't be the last time- he has to watch his mate jump into something dangerous. But the emotions he felt every time.... Goddess, it hurts.

Thanks to Gale, he got to know what happened there.

Apparently, his mate took things into his own hands. Should've guessed that Bambi won't stay still when everyone was busy. Maybe I really should tie him up.

Then, after everything, he fainted and slept like the dead. Then opened his eyes and started to retch like there's no tomorrow. After that, he slept like a log. Again, dead to the world.

After all that, all he had to say was 'holyshit, we've got a problem'?

If the male wasn't tired from all those draining emotions, he would've grabbed the boy and shaken him. Asking what in the devil's house was he thinking with making himself vulnerable in an unfamiliar territory.

Blinking, the beta runs his fingers through his mate's white strands. Elrid gave a little wiggle. His legs were trembling like he couldn't contain the anticipation about whatever he was trying not to say.
