Chapter 28 Friends

     Jungkook's chest squeezed painfully when he heard Mr. Kim say 'She's not here anymore...'

      'Jiyeon? Why?!' he thought sadly. He slumped onto a chair and felt a deep sense of loss. He was still regretting his decision not say goodbye to Jiyeon when he heard 'Japan' and 'Jiyeon' vaguely.

     "I'm sorry Mr. Kim, can you please repeat that?" he said suddenly hopeful. Mr. Kim smiled and said, "I said, Jiyeon is is Japan with her family - that's why only Sunmi and Minho are playing tonight. You can talk to Sunmi or Minho later and ask them for more details" he continued.

      Jungkook's sigh was so full of relief; that he laughed with joy and hope - 'he's going to see her again!' He ordered a macchiato and sat back to enjoy The Moved's performance. They were nearing the end of their second set so Jungkook also got ready to talk to them before they left.

     Finally the encore performance was finished so he lost no time in approaching them. "Uh - hello, my name is Jungkook - can I ask you a question?" he surprised himself with his courage. He didn't know where this newly courageously self came from. The girl said, "I'm Sunmi and this is Minho - hello Jungkook, what do you want to know?"

     "Thanks - uh - uhm - I - uh - want to know more about Jiyeon?" he stuttered. Sunmi's face fell and she cast a suspicious look at Jungkook and said, "Why do you want to know more about her? How do you know each other?" Minho stood up and crossed his arms over his chest. Jungkook wondered if the boy would hit him but shrugged the thought away - he was being paranoid.

      "Uh - we're friends - we uh - we uh - it's a long story..." he said lamely. This time Sunmi crossed her arms in front of her and said, "I've got time..." So Jungkook told Sunmi and Minho all that had happened; from their bumping into each other up until when he left her in the Kim's living room with her mom.

     "Wow - it's like a fairy tale or a plot for a movie - or something...." she said. "Well, okay - suppose what you've told us is true - what do you want to know?" she asked. Jungkook felt grateful that Jiyeon's friends were okay and that they were going to help him. So he asked, "When is she coming back to Seoul?"

       "Actually - we're not sure if she is coming back, last time we talked; she was still considering her options...so I don't really know if she will return or maybe she'll study abroad..." Sunmi replied sadly.

'What?' Jungkook screamed in his mind.
