Chapter 29 I have a dream...

Jiyeon stopped running and went inside a posh looking cafe. She picked a booth that was far from the window and ordered. She asked for some eggs benedict and orange juice. She leaned back to relax and her mind drifted to what happened in the hotel lobby - the night before.

Minwoo hugged his daughter very tightly; never allowing her to escape. This time - he resolved to talk to her about his dreams and hopes for her and prayed that she will understand her destiny. But he was surprised when she started crying her soul out.

After some time, when her crying subsided, he said, "Let's go up now; we can talk better in private and you must be very tired." The whole family trooped to the elevators to go to the Presidential Suite. Jiyeon placed her guitar on a couch in the connecting living room then sought her bed. She showered quickly and changed into comfy pj's when her Mom knocked on the door. Minwoo knocked and said, "May we come in?"

Jiyeon opened the door and they all sat on her bed.

Minwoo asked her, "Tell me Jiyeon - what is wrong? You know Mom and I love you - but these past 7 years were so stressful for all of us - why was this so?" "I don't know dad - I guess - I just got tired of explaining myself - it was so much easier to ignore my frustrations rather than talk about them...." she explained.

She told them about her depression and Seunggi. She told them about her loneliness and longing for companionship and friendship. Finally she told them about her dreams.

She hesitated a bit because; once - on a very rare occasion that her parents fought - she could remember her dad saying that 'Musicians are worthless 'artists' who struggle to put food on the table' and she could still remember her mom's pale face while shaking in anger and hurt.

'Here goes nothing' she thought. "I want to be a musician....that's what I want to do with my life!" she said so triumphantly as if daring her father to say no. Taehee smiled through her tears and Minwoo's face was inscrutable. The silence was awkward and long and Jiyeon's fears and insecurities came raging up into the surface. She clenched and unclenched her fists and cracked her fingers unknowingly.

Finally, when she was deciding whether to just runaway and live alone - Minwoo said, "Alright - but I want you to sign a contract with me. There will be certain conditions that we will agree upon. All conditions must be met and any breach will mean the forfeiture of all your activities...am I clear?"

Jiyeon didn't care about the contract. All she heard was 'alright' "Yeeeess!!" she shouted and hugged her dad so quickly that he was caught by surprise. They fell off the bed and Taehee looked down at them on the floor laughing. Jiyeon's heart was going to burst with happiness. 'Just wait Seunggi - you'll see!' she thought.

She snapped back into reality when the food arrived. She started eating but her phone rang. She smacked her forehead hard when she saw who was calling - "SUNMI."
