Chapter 23 No Goodbyes?

Jiyeon just sighed all the way to the airport - well almost all the way anyway.

She was really grumpy so she stomped around the house and was deliberately cranky just to piss her mom off. Of course, she didn't want to be labeled as 'immature' but right now she didn't care. She prayed for some miracle or even a disaster to happen, but the world wasn't ending soon. She took her time in the shower and still it seemed that the clock hadn't moved. So she changed into black jeans and a black, oversize t-shirt and and wore her neon green sneakers.

Finally, when she couldn't stall any longer, she went down to the foyer, with Gibbs on her back. Taehee raised and eyebrow but didn't comment. They were late for their flight but she had her secretary book it again for this evening. Jiyeon was sorely testing her patience but she was made of sterner stuff. She held a Givenchy tote bag on her left hand and embraced Jiyeon with her free hand. "Let's go dear" was all she said. 'At least, she is going' Taehee thought. Her mind thought back to this morning's scenario at the Sounds Cafe.

"Whaaaaaaaaat?" yelled her daughter. This time, Taehee didn't stop herself from rolling her eyes. "Why all this drama? You love going to Japan" she said. "I mean, why now? School's almost starting and I-" Jiyeon calmed down a bit and stopped quite suddenly.

She was trying not to blush but her mom saw it anyway. "And what Jiyeon?" she said teasingly. "Nothing! Why are you dragging me to Japan anyway?" she just ignored her mom's teasing. Taehee's face became serious and she said "I have to think about your future. I can't have you running away each time you argue with Dad- so I thought about cornering him in Japan and telling him about your dreams and what you plan to do to achieve them"

"You what?!" Jiyeon practically screeched. She stopped it quickly and looked at the door - hoping that Jungkook didn't hear that. How immature must he think of her! 'Say what?' she thought. She shook her head against random thoughts and concentrated on what her mom said. Her mom has a good point though.

She's 16 now and it's about time to finally ask/beg/persuade Dad to let her follow her dreams. She's been too afraid for too long. Although she was scared to talk to Minwoo, she said "Alright Mom, you win this time - but for the record - you really have great timing!" she said sarcastically.

They went to find Mr. and Mrs. Kim to thank them. They found the couple in their garden. Taehee and Jiyeon bowed and thanked them again.

Jiyeon went inside to change into her clothes when she didn't see Jungkook in the kitchen anymore. She was disappointed that she thought, 'No goodbyes?' It was probably better anyway, so that she'd just think that he had never left.

She sighed again as she heard, "Korean Air is pleased to announce the Final Boarding call for Flight 719, with non-stop service to Tokyo, Japan from gate 65" She dragged her feet and wished to heaven that her Dad will agree with her scheme - he will, won't he?
