Chapter Eight

So, just to explain real quick this is what happened with Rachel before the phone call.

"I love you," Sky says.

Did he just say that? Does he really love me? Do I love him?

No, it's impossible we just met. Then, again I know I've only felt this way about one other person, and I did consider that love. Though, I don't know if he'd actually love me, I mean why would he.

"Sky we just met," I quietly say while looking at the floor, playing with my hands. I try not to meet his gaze.

"I know," he says. "But I know how I feel."

Well now I feel terrible. I just don't want him to think something that isn't true.

"Sky, let's be realistic, you probably don't really love me," I say. "You just think you do."

"I thought of all people you'd be the most understanding," he says, not even looking at me. "I guess I was wrong," he says before walking away.

Seeing him walk away breaks my heart. "Sky," I call out instantly regretting everything I said to him.

I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket and I quickly pull it out. I look at the caller ID and see an unknown number. 

"Hello?" I ask when I answer.

"Is this Rachel Bailey?" A man asks in a very serious tone.

"Yes, who is this?" I ask.

"This is Jonathan Spencer, I work for the Chicago police."

My stomach drops.

"I would like to inform you your three siblings are down at the station after fleeing from your townhome around nine o'clock," he says.

"Wait, my three siblings?" I ask nervously.

"Yes," he says. "Would you be able to come down to the downtown station we have some issues to discuss," he says.

I lean up against the wall. "Yes, of course," I say running a hand through my hair. "I'll be there soon," I say.

I hang up the phone and slide down the wall. I put my head in my hands and just silently cry. What happened? Why are only three of them there? Who isn't there? Why aren't they there? Why did they leave?

"Rachel?" I look up to see Josh a few feet away. "What happened?" He asks while sitting down next to me.

"Something happened with my siblings," I say. "They left the house, and went to the police station, but I don't know why," I explain.

"Well, at least you know they're okay," he says wrapping an arm around me.

"Except only three of them are there," I say. "Now, I have to go down to the station and talk to the police," I say.

"Then, why are we still sitting here?" He asks while standing up. "Let's go," he says while holding out a hand to me.

"You want to come with?" I ask.

"Yeah, you don't want to go alone I bet," he says.

"Okay, just let me change really quick," I say and walk back into my room.

I quickly change into some light jeans and a blue T-shirt. I put on some Sperry's and throw my hair in a ponytail. I walk out and Josh and I head out.

"Why do you think your siblings left?" He asks.

"I bet Tommy made them leave," I say. "That's what he wanted to do the first time this happened, but I convinced him not too. Now that I'm not there he probably convinced them to leave," I say.
