Asahi took his usual route to school, deep in thought. It had been a couple days since Kageyama had returned to the village, well, at least been permitted to return.
He shuddered a little, nuzzling his chin a little deeper into his shawl. It was getting colder bit by bit.
Asahi wasn't quite sure how to deal with this entire situation, once again. At least he was glad the elders had given Kiyoko a chance to 'purify' the birdfolk with these charms. He knew else they would have already gone into the forest, searching for the village to burn it.

Asahi was so deep in thought that it took him a couple seconds to notice the footsteps behind him. He stopped, head raised. Who-?
"Good morning, Asahi!"
Oh, he knew that voice.
"Oh, good morning, Noya-sa-" Asahi choked on his own spit, devolving into a coughing fit the moment he turned around.
There was Nishinoya in front of him, but... This was a Nishinoya without his wings, without his feathers. He looked so... human. And with a suspicious carved leather bracelet on his wrist.

"Y-your wings."
"Yep."
Nishinoya looked behind himself, only to grimace and turn his gaze back to Asahi. Both stared at each other for a couple seconds, before Nishinoya grimaced.
"...genuinely I fucking hate it but what wouldn't I do to spend time with my favorite human." And by god it was so blunt and so Noya that Asahi couldn't help but turn a little flustered. He knew how important his wings were to Nishinoya, to hide them for him was a huge deal.
Finally, Asahi broke his staring and snorted.
"...to be honest, I hate it as well."
"Oh yeah? Weren't you always soooo afraid of them~?" Nishinoya teased with a huge grin on his lips, arms crossed at this point. That made Asahi's face only redder. Well, he had a point.
"You know I'm scared of lots of things, don't tease me!"

Nishinoya stepped closer and wrapped his arms around Asahi, chin resting on his chest, looking up at him with those big and beautiful brown eyes.
"I'm happy to see you. Can I bring you to school?"
"S-sure..."
Asahi couldn't help but look down onto Nishinoya's lips. He knew the boy was courting him, wanted him to be his partner, and Asahi was afraid of saying yes. Of being with him. But Nishinoya didn't need an answer.
Said one grabbed Asahi by his jacket and pulled him down to meet his eyes, earning a surprised yelp in return before placing a kiss on his cheek.
"You're like the tallest tree in my forest, you should meet people face to face sometimes~"

He let him go in the same turn, before skipping past an absolutely mortified Asahi down the road.
"H-hey wait!!"
Asahi was almost jogging to keep pace with Nishinoya, who was laughing at the top of his lungs. Was it wrong to feel a little disappointed that it hadn't been a real kiss?
Asahi could still remember the first time, Nishinoya's lips on his own, warm and soft a and slightly chapped but it was addicting, so intoxicating and he had been yearning for more.
He caught up, reaching for Nishinoya's wrist, only to grab onto his arm and hold him tight.
"...at... at least do it properly..."

Pause.

"...you mean it? Y-you mean it?"
Nishinoya couldn't believe his ears. For how long had he been pining after this man? For how long had he been courting him?
The bird whirled around, grabbing Asahi's arms in return.
"You actually mean it?"
Asahi froze, a little put on the spot, and he wanted to answer but by god his voice was not obeying him. But Asahi never needed to give a verbal answer. At this point, both knew each other too well for that.
The ace leaned in, and Noya understood, reaching onto his tiptoes to meet Asahi in an actual kiss.

It was even better than the first time.

Asahi felt like on cloud 9. Heart hammering in his chest, cheeks a gentle shade of pink and he could feel Noya's grin forming in their kiss.
"...you're getting blushy Asahi..." Noya mumbled against his lips, only for Asahi to grumble and wrap his arms around the boy, pulling him closer to hopefully shut him up.

It was both a weird and good day for Asahi.

It wasn't exactly normal for him to do this kind of thing in the middle of the road, where people could see them any moment, but right now he couldn't care less.
Breathless, he parted, too flustered to meet Noya's eyes.
"...there's your answer, happy....?"
"Very."
Nishinoya couldn't suppress that little excited thrill that came from his throat.
"A-although I do hope the others aren't going to make a big deal out of this."
"Oh I hope they will, this is a big deal! Asahi-san accepted my courting!!"

Noya pulled away, letting out another excited chirp.
"Ooooh now I gotta build a nest for you! I'm gonna make it so cozy and so big for you! You're gonna love it!! I-I don't exactly have the most experience building a nest, but I'll do my best for you!!"
And Noya took off running down the road, clearly on his way to the forest. Wait- nest?!
But when Hinata built a nest for Kageyama, didn't the birds say they were now married for birdfolk customs...?
Asahi turned bright red, and set off to sprint after Noya.
"H-HOLD ON A MOMENT I'M TOO YOUNG TO GET MARRIED!!"

Kageyama tossed a volleyball, only to watch Tanaka spike it down with a hard thud. God it felt good being in an actual volleyball court again.
"Where's Asahi? He doesn't usually miss morning practice."
Suga shot a worried glance to the door and Daichi chuckled.
"He'll be fine."
"Oh yeah, after all he's being courted by 'an omen of death' oooooohhhh" Tanaka cooed, doing the jazz hands as a mocking gesture.

Suga tried to hold in his laugher but could barely even suppress a grin.
"Oh be nice Tanaka.
Kageyama turned away, walking to the benches to fetch his waterbottle for a small drink. Huh. He hadn't seen Hinata since he had taken off the with charms.
In all honesty, Kageyama did miss him a little. He wasn't ever being lovey-dovey with Hinata in public, but he didn't think he would ever miss having someone curled up within his arms all night.
And those soft feathers, wrapping both of them in a fluffy blanket...

Hinata was taking good care of his feathers, Kageyama had seen him preening himself very often. He did want to offer his help, but he never dared to ask- even if he was inwardly thanking every god for any chance he could get touching Hinata's wings.
Pitch black, huge, blocking out his sun forever.

Good thing he had his very own sun attached to those ginormous wings.
