Mitch was on his way to lunch when he heard yelling behind him. "He blew it! He fucking blew it!There goes our chances of getting a decent grade in choir this quarter." It was Scott. Mitch hurried his pace to try to escape the damage he caused. When he entered the lunchroom he was torn on where to sit. Should he sit with his boyfriend like he started doing or go over to his previous lunch table where Scott and Kirstie sat and try to make things right. "MITCH." Someone called out. He turned to see where the voice was coming from, it was Jake, one of Travis' close friends. Mitch looked at his former table then walked over to Travis and Jake's table. "Why the hesitation baby?" Travis asked, "I-I was gonna apologize for making our trio suck.."Mitch said looking at his fingers. "Hey, you did the best you could do with so little practice." "I wonder why I had so little practice in the first place." Mitch says. "Are you getting an attitude because of my need to take you out on dates and want to be around you." Travis said dramatically. Mitch looked down and fiddled with his fingers. "Travis, leave the kid alone. He obviously had a bad day, and you're making it worse." Jake said intruding in their conversation. The last word Travis spoke was a breathy 'Whatever' as everyone started to eat their lunches.
Over at Scott's table they had been discussing the days events. Scott told Kirstie about how Mitch and Travis were arguing and how tired Mitch was in class. "Should we be worried?" Kirstie asked Scott, "This is Mitch we're talking about! He won't let anyone take advantage of him and get away with it." "Why doesn't he sit with you guys, aren't you all friends?" Genevieve asked. "Things are complicated" Scott said as he took a bite of his sandwich.
After lunch everyone went their separate ways again.
Mitch had told Travis to do the rest of the project in class, and surprisingly Travis finished. They turned in their project and were ready for tomorrow's presentation. That is if Travis showed up. Travis had been skipping classes and no one understood why. Rumors started to go around about him doing drugs or cheating on Mitch, both being bad possibilities, yet Mitch never confronted him about it.
Maybe Mitch was scared, not scared that he'd be hurt physically, but emotionally. Travis was Mitch's first boyfriend and he wanted to stay in the clear so Travis wouldn't leave him for someone better.

It was now nearing the end of October and things had changed. The trio had split for good and Scott had been seeing a new girl for a couple weeks, and it seemed that everyone looked down on Scott's relationship choice.
Kirstie walked up to Scott and his girlfriend, Naomi, and started talking "So Halloween is coming up soon, I was thinking of having a little get together!" "And by little you mean you're inviting the seniors, right?" Naomi asked. She was clearly using Scott to gain popularity and to get in his pants. Everyone caught on except Scott, of course. Kirstie rolled her eyes and started talking again. "No. I just want a few of my close friends. So Scotty here, Genie, uhm, maybe 2 Seniors from this private school I went to!" then she mumbled, "And maybe Mitch." Scott's eyes widen "NO! Don't invite that prick." Naomi smirked, "Yeah, he's nothing but trouble." she said rubbing Scott's arm seductively. Genevieve looked at her with pure disgust in her eyes, What did Scott see in her?
"I'm still inviting him. I don't care if either of you show up, I'm gonna be nice. He was our best friend." Kirstie said to Scott. "Key word babe, 'was', now he thinks he's the shit because he is with Travis and Travis just got discovered a week ago." "Like you HELPED the situation! All you did was argue and complain for no damn reason, Scott! We get why you were mad the first time, but after that you just got worse and no one knows why!" Kirstie stated with full force. "BECAUSE THAT SHOULD BE ME!!" Scott said fuming. The tables around them had started staring with confusion and curiosity as Kirstie, Genevieve, and Naomi sat shocked at his outburst.
