Astrea: *Smile* Are you three ready for the festival?
Alise: *Smile* Ready!
Ryu: Mhm!
Kaguya: As long as there's something interesting to do.
The three seven-year-olds, just a few years older than Bell and Aiz, stood just outside their homes looking far less like future adventurers and far more like excited city kids trying, and failing to stand still. None of them wore armor or gear today. Instead, they were dressed in bright, festival-ready clothes that made them look softer, lighter... And much easier to spot if they ran off, which Astrea absolutely knew they would try.
Ryu stood quietly in a long white skirt paired with a gentle green blouse. She held the fabric with careful fingers, as if afraid she might wrinkle it. Her eyes shimmered with anticipation she was trying very hard to hide like a shy spark flickering behind calm blue.
Alise practically radiated excitement in her red skirt and white shirt. She was already bouncing on her heels, as if the festival music had started early and only she could hear it. Her smile was so wide it threatened to split her face in half.
Kaguya, in contrast, wore a green and red kimono that made her look dramatically composed. Or at least, she believed she looked composed. Really, she looked like a tiny empress preparing to judge everyone she met.
Astrea: Just make sure you behave, girls. It's a festival, we're going out to have fun not cause a ruckus.
Alise: Yes!!
Ryu: Y-Yes!
Kaguya: Yeah, yeah...
Their answers blended together perfectly, Alise loud and eager, Ryu sweet and earnest, and Kaguya sounding done with the world despite being seven. It was the familiar trio of chaos Astrea had learned to brace herself for the moment they opened their mouths.
And so, they set off to enjoy the spring festival of the city. And enjoy it they did.
Food stalls check.
Parlor games check.
Scenic viewing spots check.
Everything was going great.
So great, in fact, that Astrea briefly wondered if the girls had been replaced with well-behaved illusions.
How could things even get better from here?
Well, the answer to that stood literally in front of them.
They bumped into another group by pure coincidence.
Astrea: Miss Meteria, and Miss Riveria?
Bell: O-Oh!
Aiz: It's them.
She muttered the words under her breath, her small face pinching ever so slightly as she attempted and utterly failed to hide her mild disdain. The attempt lasted roughly half a second.
