Sirin POV:
"Are you sure you are okay with this?" Dustin asked over the phone as I skipped along towards the castle biting into my breakfast burrito, "We aren't supposed to release these videos for at least another few weeks."
"I know but I really think that if we introduce Rachel before the ball, it'll be better. This way other merenares have a full day to process a human will be there and maybe even learn more about her." I repeated the argument. I had been thinking about since we had taught Rachel how to introduce herself, it felt wrong her first introduction would be at a ball. It would be too much pressure. While she is a lot more outgoing than Dustin, she does seem very similar to him, and I can't imagine him handling that well at all.
"Do we need permission from Ira and his parents?" Dustin asked I could hear him playing a part of the last video recorded clicking his mouse to adjust something.
"I already texted Ira he says he and Rachel are fine with it. He also said his parents are fine with it."
"Did he actually ask his parents or is he assuming?" Dustin questioned and honestly, I have no idea.
"I don't think they care to much what we do on our channel as long as it is safe." I reminded.
"That's the problem, how do you know this is safe? As far as we know we would be putting a target on Rachels back." Dustin argued and the sound stopped, "It just seems like a bad idea."
I hummed. We had already been attacked by dark agers and that was without Rachel revealing she was a human to more than a handful of people, "I doubt Rachel is going to leave the castle with the ball being so close and there isn't a safer place now is there? Add to that her ability to protect herself and the fact that Ira is constantly by her side, and I think she will be fine."
Dustin was silent and I pulled the phone away from my ear the check my cheek hadn't hit the hang up button, "Can you please confirm Ira's parents are okay with it? What if they want to change around the protections to make sure there is a guard shadowing Rachel at all times?"
"Alright I'll see if I can get them, but you know how hard it is to be able to talk to them." I was going to have to jump through some hoops for this, "Why don't you head over to the castle as well and we can film another little something that way we can have an excuse if we can't see them."
"Alright then but I look worse than normal trying to finish editing all of these videos you want to release today instead of according to the plan." Dustin complained.
"You will look fine; it's a part of your charm." It was there have been several comments on Dustin's ascetic. What are the comments about Rachel going to be like? I have done everything I can to make sure she will be well accepted but there is no way to guarantee anything now is there?
"Dustin I want you to make sure your program is running to flag and block out comments against Rachel."
"I already touched up the program to include Rachel and a few other terms that might be used against her, what is the level you are comfortable with allowing?" Dustin was back to typing on his computer.
"I can live with the comments being mean to us but the comments towards Rachel can't go any beyond calling her traditions weird, clothes unusual, looks strange, speech peculiar, anything odd." I listed.
"Alright then I'll make sure to set up the program to flag the comments and go through them before she ever has the chance to see them." Dustin said distracted, "When is she going to go through the comments?"
"That depends on what they say, if they are positive then probably today. If they are less than that probably never." I am not going to let a bunch of stranger's ridicule one of my friends.
